While our interests center on Aquidneck Island and surrounding communities, we welcome proposals from outside the region that will benefit its people and places. The Foundation does not make grants to individuals, for general operating purposes (except on occasion for longstanding partners), to support lobbying, or to attempt to influence legislation. vBCF offers five types of grants. A conversation on site or via Zoom to discuss the proposal involving project leads, vBCF staff and vBCF board members. Yes, as long as the timeframe project is covered by a strategic plan or similar guidance. They can be, but decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
Generally, the vBCF does not provide long-term funding. Does vBCF support capital projects? Does vBCF fund endowments?
Does vBCF make grants for strategic and program/project planning? Does vBCF make grants for general operating support? Rarely, although proposals can include operating costs associated with a specific project or program Is there a typical grant range?
Does vBCF require us to have a financial audit inorder to be considered for a grant? No, but it’s helpful for us to have as it provides lots of useful information. In the absence of an audit, use financial statements from the IRS 990 (preferred) or other financial information you have available.
If you have any questions about what figures to include, please contact your accounting/finance team directly, and not vBCF staff. What should we do if our audit is not complete? Attach your most recent audit and note the current status of your audit in your proposal, and when you expect to receive it.
