The Foundation hosted a recital, free to the public, by the winner of the McClure performance award. It also honored individuals who helped shape the development of music appreciation in Jacksonville, Fl. The event merited local newspaper coverage. The recital was followed by a reception. More than 100 people attended. The institutions which benefitted from the Honorees efforts are the Jacksonville Symphony, Jacksonville University, Florida State University, Duval County Public Schools, Friday Musicale and Riverside Park United Methodist Church. The Jacksonville Symphony was founded in 1949. MUSICAL ASSET EXPANSION:The Foundation is working with Riverside Park United Methodist Church in upgrading and expanding its musical assets for enjoyment by the public of its varied musical programs open to the public. Over a period of three years this includes the acquisition of a Festival Trumpets antiphonal division for its organ. The music program there offers a variety of performances throughout the year including contemporary music at its contemporary service and traditional music at its traditional service. It offers community classes for a variety of topics including music lessons for selected instruments. The Jacksonville metropolitan area has a population of over $1.3 million.Projects on an ongoing basis are available on our website which currently has about 250 hits per month:

WILLIAM A. COULTER EXHIBITION:The Foundation organized and funded mounting the first, and only, retrospective exhibition of the artwork of William A. Coulter whose work spanned many decades chronicling the evolution of commerce off the west coast from the late 1800s to the mid-1900s. The 6-month Exhibition opened free to the public, on the 100th anniversary of the 1906 Earthquake and Fire. Coulters 6 x 10 painting of this event was the highlight of the exhibition. This project was in cooperation with the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park which provided the exhibition space on Fishermans wharf across from their floating museum, The Balclutha, and whose staff provided major support for our curator for the Exhibition. We also received public relations support from the California Historical Society, California Pioneers, and San Francisco Museum and Historical Society, all of which publicized the event to their membership.
