Flinn Giant Screen Theater, Level 1 Empowering the next generation of STEM professionals Girls in STEM is a series of educational programs throughout the year that encourages interest in science and engineering among students in grades 4-8.
Launched in 2013, the program offers a supportive and collaborative environment for girls to engage with each other while working on activities and projects that introduce them to STEM concepts such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Girls in STEM also partners with companies and mentors to speak with students about opportunities in STEM and as a future profession. Upcoming Girls in STEM Events May 9, 2026 | 9:00 a.

Dive into discovery and learn all about the mysteries of the ocean! Participants will perform a real squid dissection, explore cutting-edge research in a marine science lab, test their silent communication skills like deep-sea divers, and become deep dive detectives as they investigate the chemistry of seawater. A full day of hands-on marine biology, ocean exploration, and STEM-powered curiosity!

STEM Mentors impact the lives of Participants in a variety of ways, including helping with challenges, engaging the Participants in different projects, and, most importantly, a chance to mentor and inspire young girls* to consider exciting careers in STEM. We are in need of both English- and Spanish-speaking STEM Mentors.

From full-day badge extravaganzas to evening twilight adventures and overnight sleepovers, each program is packed with science fun, badge-earning activities, and unforgettable memories Inclusivity at Arizona Science Center Our Girls in STEM program is open to anyone who identifies as female regardless of their assignment at birth.
Our program is also open to those who identify as non-binary and, although the focus is on girls, all students are invited to attend regardless of gender identity. Studies show that girls are more engaged in learning when the content presented is both tactile and closely tied to solving a real-world problem or challenge.

The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal. The Fiscal Year 2026 application deadline was September 30, 2025. Questions should be directed to robotics@amsti.org.
