We administer two USDA-funded grant programs and offer links to several others. Specialty Crop Block Grants The Specialty Crop Block Grant Program is meant to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crops, defined as fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops.

Specialty Crop Multi-state Program The Specialty Crop Multi-State Program (SCMP) offers grants to enhance the competitiveness of specialty crop by funding collaborative, multi-state projects addressing regional or national specialty crop issues. NE WA Wolf Livestock Management Grant These grants aim to develop community-based, nonlethal methods to protect livestock from wolves in Northeast Washington.

The Farm to School Program offers purchasing grants to help expand farm to school efforts statewide. Visit the Farm to School grants webpage for application timelines and criteria. WSDA is now accepting applications for the IPM Research Grant through December 15, 2025.

Compost Reimbursement Program The Compost Reimbursement Program offers farms the opportunity to have up to 50% of compost and compost applicatiion costs reimbursed. Applications to the program are generally accepted beginning in July.

Compost Reimbursement Program Info Local Food System Infrastructure Grant The Local Food System Infrastructure Grant supports local food supply chains and market access for farms, ranches, food processors, and food distributors. Visit the grant webpage to learn more. Resilient Food System Infrastructure Program This program intends to offer more and better market opportunities to small and mid-sized agricultural producers.

The goals of this program are to generate new products, create and expand marketing opportunities, and increase producer income.

USDA Rural Business Development Grants USDA Rural Development Grants is a competitive grant designed to support targeted technical assistance, training and other activities leading to the development or expansion of small and emerging private businesses in rural areas which will employ 50 or fewer new employees and has less than $1 million in gross revenue.

USDA Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program The Farm and Ranch Lands Protection Program (FRPP) helps farmers and ranchers keep their land in agriculture by providing funds to purchase conservation easements. USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher T his Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program provides grants to organizations for education, mentoring, and technical assistance initiatives for beginning farmers or ranchers.

USDA Community Food Projects Competitive Grants Program Community Food Projects are designed to increase food security in communities by bringing the whole food system together to assess strengths, establish linkages, and create systems to improve the self-reliance of community members over their food needs.
