This effort is connected to the KPMG LLP AI Impact Initiative , which was established in 2024. This initiative combines skills-based volunteering, pro bono services, and technology solutions to help nonprofits use AI to advance their missions.
“Generative AI is reshaping industries, and it’s imperative that nonprofits have access to and are trained on it so they can use AI to get the most out of their resources and meet the needs of the students, patients, and community members they serve,” said Maureen Davenport, Principal in Charge, Corporate Affairs, KPMG U. S .
“AI integration will help nonprofits enhance engagement, create more meaningful experiences, and open new channels of support. ” Each grantee is taking a tailored approach to implementation, but all are aimed at improved outcomes for the people and the communities they serve.
Grants across the KPMG U.S. Foundation focus areas include: DREAM Charter Schools in New York will advance their integration of AI into its operations and curriculum, introducing students to AI fundamentals, technical tools, ethical use, safety and real-world applications.
Year Up United and DC College Access Program will continue to build AI into their operations to better engage students on resume creation, internship opportunities, and AI-driven personalized information interventions at precise moments during the college enrollment and renewal process, while also supporting teachers, instructors, and staff.
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards will use AI to expand its organizational capacity and will pilot a chatbot to support teachers. They will also be using it to streamline certification material revisions, improve policy analysis, and automate workflows to strengthen services for educators nationwide.
The Veterans Multi-Service Center in Pennsylvania, the UP Center in Virginia, and The Village for Families and Children in Connecticut will be using AI to streamline operations, including health and mental health records management, and patient communications systems. This will afford clinicians more time for direct care to patients and enhance the accessibility of services for individuals with disabilities.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness will be leveraging AI to improve operational systems and workflows, enabling staff to focus more on mission-critical work. While Fountain House will embed AI into operations and governance practices, with client members benefiting from AI generated Patient-Reported Outcome Measures, strengthened billing accuracy and navigation of benefits, and decreased time spent by staff on documentation.
To meet the rising demand for mental health and substance use education and prevention in the U.S., the National Council for Mental Wellbeing , will utilize AI to streamline the delivery of Mental Health First Aid training, enhancing operational efficiency and content delivery, so they can equip more communities nationwide with scalable and data-informed mental health training.
Freedom Communities in Charlotte will use AI to support its program expansion, boosting efficiency, enabling more mission-critical client services, and improving data-driven decision-making as it launches new offerings.
Greater Auburn Gresham Development Corporation in Chicago will integrate AI to strengthen donor engagement, forecast financial trends, and identify new funding sources to support community revitalization, affordable housing, and expanded services for seniors.
