The Alliance for Decision Education Research Grant serves these primary goals: Fund projects that have the potential to make significant contributions to understanding K-12 student decision-making, and lead to practical applications or solutions for Decision Education.
Address Critical Research Gaps Focus on research areas that have been identified as critical gaps or priorities in the Decision Education research field to support student learning and school implementation.
Facilitate Knowledge Transfer and Dissemination Encourage the translation of research findings into practical applications; ensure dissemination of research findings; promote open access to knowledge; and encourage knowledge transfer between academia, industry, and other relevant fields.
Foster Collaboration and Partnerships Encourage researchers to work collaboratively across different institutions, disciplines, and sectors to leverage expertise and create opportunities for knowledge exchange. Inspire research aimed at exploring the importance of Decision Education and its impact; disseminate findings to raise the visibility of the field and drive demand.
Build a network of researchers focused on Decision Education resulting in continued and expanded development of research initiatives. The Alliance makes grants primarily to tax-exempt organizations, including government entities.
Grants may be made to for-profit entities given the charitable purpose is clearly outlined and any benefit flowing to the for-profit as a result of our involvement is merely incidental to the primary charitable purpose. We encourage collaboration among two or more organizations. This may include higher education, K-12 schools and systems, and non-profit organizations.
Eligible Principal Investigators The Alliance defers to the applying organization’s criteria for who is eligible to act as a Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on a grant. Proposed studies should align with the primary goals of the grant and the Decision Education Research Agenda . Studies must include a United States sample.
Grants will typically be awarded for up to $200,000 and we may consider larger requests in special circumstances. Grants exceeding $100,000 will be highly encouraged to include a pilot study, unless the study design does not necessitate one. Grants should range in duration from 12 to 24 months.
Total funding may include a maximum overhead rate of 10%. Grant submissions will be reviewed by members of an External Review Board. If you have a project idea that would require more than $200,000 of funding or exceed 24 months, please contact us at research@alliancefordecisioneducation.
org before submitting an LOI. We are particularly interested in projects that have the potential to develop into longitudinal studies. Intellectual Property and Open Access Intellectual property produced with charitable funds must serve a charitable purpose.
We encourage all grantees to make peer-reviewed research publications available on an Open Access basis whenever possible. The grantee should include these costs in their budget. The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal.
