Atmore Community Foundation — Community Foundation of South Alabama Create a philanthropic fund Atmore Community Foundation By working with The Community Foundation of South Alabama, affiliates can focus on raising funds and deciding charitable use for the income of the community fund while relying on the parent Foundation to handle the administration, investment and required daily tasks.
Through a concerted grant-making effort, the effects of a community fund can be felt for generations to come. An advisory committee of Atmore residents make recommendations about how the charitable dollars are spent, and The Community Foundation of South Alabama bears the legal responsibility to ensure that the funds are then used in compliance with donor intent.
Since the affiliate was established, committee members have dedicated their time and energy to fundraise for future grant-making efforts. Establishing an affiliate through CFSA is no easy feat. It required the committee to raise an initial $25,000 to create a “field of interest” fund, titled the Atmore Community Fund.
Since the fundraising efforts began, the members of the committee have exceeded their expectations, raising over $70,000. Real possibilities for the citizens of Atmore can be made possible by these grants. Founded to benefit Atmore in perpetuity, the Foundation will ensure that the Atmore Community Foundation is successful in its attempt to bring new life to the small town.
The Atmore Community Foundation was founded in 2017 by a group of Atmore citizens. As an affiliate of the Community Foundation of South Alabama, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization, we accept a wide variety of tax-deductible contributions, such as cash, appreciated stocks, real estate or other assets. The Atmore Foundation supports continued efforts to improve the lives of all in our local community.
Atmore Community Foundation’s Community Impact Since its founding, the Atmore Community Foundation has awarded over $24,000 to organizations serving the local community. These organizations have created projects and programs that tackle specific areas including Health, Education and Human Services.
The Atmore Advisory Committee, with years of experience and a wealth of knowledge on local needs, determined that funding will support the following prioritiy areas: Arts, Community Development, Education, Health, Human Services, Recreation, Technology, or Youth. The chart below depicts eight years of annual funding and the priority areas that have risen to the top of residents’ needs.
