EDUCATION – Florida Theatrical Association EDUCATION ignacio 2026-03-18T17:16:27+00:00 One of the cornerstones of FTA’s mission is supporting youth outreach and education programs, which are a crucial part of expanding and supporting new audiences in the Florida arts community.
Annually, Florida Theatrical Association supports non-profit theatre arts groups with grants for professional training programs and awards scholarships to college and high school theatre students. Since 1989, Florida Theatrical has awarded more than $2 million in scholarships and grants to support arts education and arts organizations across the state of Florida.
In a continued effort to cultivate the future actors, dancers, singers, and audience members of the future, Florida Theatrical Association provides workshops and classes at schools around Florida, focusing on topics ranging from auditioning and acting to directing. If you’d like to help Florida’s young artists and performers, we invite you to support Florida Theatrical Associations’ Education Fund.

This grant gives colleges and universities the opportunity of offset tuition costs for students studying Theater Management, Stage Management, Design & Production and/or Performance Training programs. BARBARA H. GAULT PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM Florida Theatrical Association’s Barbara H.
Gault Professional Training Program is designed to support non-profit, producing theatres that offer professional training. Eligible projects include student scholarships, internship programs, professional faculties, training program materials, or student performances.
This award recognizes graduating Florida high school students who have demonstrated talent in the performing arts and are pursuing post-secondary study in the field of theatrical arts. Additional consideration will be given to students furthering their theater education at a Florida-based post-secondary institution. Recipients are chosen at the Florida State Thespian Festival.
Two awards of $5,000 will be given out to performance-based and technical categories. JAN McART DIRECTOR’S CHAIR AWARD This award is for educators working at the elementary to high school level. Annually, recipients are nominated, reviewed by a committee, and then selected based on their dedication to training and development for students in theater education.

The Charlie Cinnamon Summer Education Scholarship is awarded to Central and South Florida high school students for continuing theater education through the summer months through theater camps, schools and workshops.
The scholarships are awarded annually at the District Thespian Conferences in Broward, Miami-Dade, Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. Introduced last year, one scholarship is awarded per district between to both a performance based and technical based recipient.

The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal. The Fiscal Year 2026 application deadline was September 30, 2025. Questions should be directed to robotics@amsti.org. The program is managed by the Alabama State Department of Education under State Superintendent Eric G. Mackey.
