A Different Approach for 2026-27 In keeping with the crippling limitations that continue to be put in place by the current Presidential Administration pertaining to federal grants and loans for climate solutions and equity initiatives, the funding partners and equity consultants for the Drawdown Georgia Climate Solutions and Equity Grants program have decided to forego a call for new applications for a 2026-27 cohort.
Instead, the funders are committed to “leaning in” and providing additional unrestricted grants to the community based organizations we have supported since 2023. We’ve stayed in touch with our grantee partners, and we see them as they struggle to stretch their resources to deliver uninterrupted advocacy and financial support in the most vulnerable communities across Georgia.
We are empathetic to their needs and we trust them as the most knowledgeable experts to navigate the current landscape. Many of our current grantees depend on federal grants and loans to supplement the funds that we and other funders have provided. Where projects are in jeopardy, we seek to help them all finish what they began.
We seek to help them emerge with confidence and resilience as they continue their crucial climate and equity work in communities throughout Georgia. Funders for this cohort are: Atticus Fund, Ray C. Anderson Foundation, R.
Howard Dobbs, Jr. Foundation, Reilly Family Fund and Tull Charitable Foundation.
Climate Solutions & Equity Grant Program Overview The Climate Solutions & Equity Grant program is designed to accelerate the Drawdown Georgia mission to advance achievable climate solutions that prioritize equity across the state, such as composting, electric vehicles, energy efficiency improvements, food waste reduction, plant-based diets, and rooftop solar.
These grants empower under-invested BIPOC communities across Georgia to scale climate solutions that bring new jobs, environmental benefits, improved public health, and neighborhood investments where they are most needed. Sixteen two-year grants of up to $100,000 per year have been awarded since 2022 to nonprofit organizations working on climate and equity solutions throughout Georgia.
