Other options to get involved We fund organizations and projects which disrupt our current behavioral health space and create impact at the individual, organizational, and societal levels. Our participatory funds alter traditional grantmaking by shifting power to impacted communities to direct resources and make funding decisions. We build public and private partnerships to administer grant dollars toward targeted programs.
Program Related Investments We provide funds at below-market interest rates that can be particularly useful to start, grow, or sustain a program, or when results cannot be achieved with grant dollars alone. Overdose Prevention and Community Healing Fund Community Fund for Wellness Kensington Community Resilience Fund The Community Fund for Immigrant Wellness serves diverse immigrant communities throughout Southeastern Pennsylvania by providing financial support and capacity building to organizations that remove barriers and provide opportunities for individuals to live with dignity and joy.
Innovative in its approach, the Community Fund alters the traditional process of philanthropic giving and shifts grantmaking power and responsibility to community-based, immigrant-serving organizations. Ultimately, this process shifts the power dynamic in the funder-grantee relationship by asking service providers to not only inform a funding process but to drive it.
At its core, the Community Fund’s approach is asset driven, drawing on the tremendous expertise, commitment, and resilience of the immigrant and refugee communities in Southeastern PA. Is the organization is recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or have a fiscal sponsor?
Is the organization located in the Greater Philadelphia region, including the following counties: Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County, and Philadelphia County? Does the organization have an annual budget of $10 million or less? Does the organization’s mission state that they work with immigrant and/or refugee communities?
The Community Fund for Immigrant Wellness is dedicated to advancing leadership of immigrants and refugees. In the evaluation process, consideration will be given to how the organization has worked to build a leadership team and board that reflects the community they serve. The System Innovations Grant (Youth Opportunities Fund) is a multi-year funding opportunity from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that supports collaborative projects working to understand and strengthen systems so they function better for young people. Improving Veteran Mental Health Grant Program is a grant from The Cigna Group Foundation that funds nonprofits providing housing stability and wraparound support services to improve the mental health of military veterans. The Foundation committed $9 million over three years addressing housing instability and its mental health impacts, as an estimated 40,000 veterans go without shelter nightly and 1.5 million are at risk of homelessness. Funded programs include mortgage and rental assistance, employment re-entry training, and housing development for veterans. Eligible nonprofits must leverage evidence-informed programs and align with at least one goal: increasing permanent housing, improving housing affordability, or enhancing wraparound services for veterans transitioning from shelters.
