Grants and Sponsorships | Kaiser Permanente Maryland / Virginia / Washington, D. C. One way we improve the health of our members and the communities we serve is to provide grants to local community organizations, and sponsor events that align with our mission and address community needs.
To better understand the needs of each community we serve, we conduct a Community Health Needs Assessment every 3 years. This strategic process informs our community investments and helps us make long-term, equitable, and sustainable changes. It also allows us to strengthen relationships with community organizations as we work together to improve community health.

Kaiser Permanente provides sponsorships for community events and activities that support our mission and that are consistent with focus areas identified in the Community Health Needs Assessment .
When evaluating sponsorship proposals, Kaiser Permanente considers the following criteria in addition to the CHNA: The opportunity to create long-term value The potential to reach the communities Kaiser Permanente serves and build sustainable relationships The ability to provide positive exposure for Kaiser Permanente and increase brand familiarity The opportunity to support Kaiser Permanente’s mission, business priorities and enrollment growth The potential for engaging Kaiser Permanente employees The potential for promoting equity, inclusion, diversity, and accessibility in the communities we serve Kaiser Permanente will consider funding requests from nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)) or equivalent organizations such as tribes, public schools, universities, and government agencies and programs.
To be eligible, applicants must have operations in areas of Washington served by Kaiser Permanente.
Events or programs outside areas of Washington served by Kaiser Permanente, including international or social organizations (Note: the Southwest Washington counties of Cowlitz and Clark are part of the Kaiser Permanente in the Northwest ) Local (city, school) sporting events, individuals, or teams Field trips or tours; school-affiliated orchestras, bands, choirs, drama groups, yearbooks, class parties, or class or team projects Religious activities, in whole or in part, for the purpose of furthering religious doctrine Partisan political activities, candidates, or organizations Personal appeals for funding of individual medical care, insurance coverage for individuals, scholarships, tuition, educational expenses, or conference registration Organizations that have already received funding for a sponsorship within the calendar year Submitting an application is not a guarantee of sponsorship or funding.
