Community Integration (Social Rec) Grants : CA Department of Developmental Services Community Integration (Social Rec) Grants In 2021, American Rescue Plan Act provided the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) $12. 5 million for Grants for Enhanced Community Integration for Children and Adolescents (Social Rec Grants).
Grants will fund projects that enhance and develop integrated and inclusive social and recreational programs for families, children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in underserved communities.

Grantees will implement a variety of projects that will provide services in more than 21 languages. The grants seek to focus on communities with limited access to resources and the grant structure encourages recipients to continue serving those with disabilities long after the grant funds are expended.

Home and Community-Based Services Programs is a grant from the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) that funds innovative, community-based strategies to improve access to services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, particularly those from underserved and underrepresented communities. Service Access & Equity Grant Program is a grant from the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) that funds regional centers and community-based organizations implementing strategies to reduce disparities and increase equity in services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) from diverse backgrounds. Established by Assembly Bill X2 1 in 2016, the program awards $11 million annually to support projects ensuring that individuals from all cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds have equal access to regional center services. The SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is a competitive program from Social Capital Inc. that funds youth-led community improvement projects in Greater Boston. Teams of high school students in grades 9 through 12 residing in Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, or Suffolk counties develop project ideas through coaching from local professionals, then pitch their proposals to a live panel of judges. Winning teams receive $1,000 to $2,000 in grant funding to execute their community-strengthening visions. The program builds career skills including public speaking, project management, and team collaboration, while cultivating cross-socioeconomic connections among peers and mentors throughout the region.
The System Innovations Grant (Youth Opportunities Fund) is a multi-year funding opportunity from the Ontario Trillium Foundation that supports collaborative projects working to understand and strengthen systems so they function better for young people. Improving Veteran Mental Health Grant Program is a grant from The Cigna Group Foundation that funds nonprofits providing housing stability and wraparound support services to improve the mental health of military veterans. The Foundation committed $9 million over three years addressing housing instability and its mental health impacts, as an estimated 40,000 veterans go without shelter nightly and 1.5 million are at risk of homelessness. Funded programs include mortgage and rental assistance, employment re-entry training, and housing development for veterans. Eligible nonprofits must leverage evidence-informed programs and align with at least one goal: increasing permanent housing, improving housing affordability, or enhancing wraparound services for veterans transitioning from shelters.
California's Senate passed a $12 billion research bond 29-9 on May 27. If the Assembly clears it and Gov. Newsom signs by June 25, voters decide in November whether a new state foundation will fund grants where Washington pulled back.
