These grants support projects and programs that focus on preventive care, education, access to dental services and advocacy efforts to improve oral health for individuals of all ages. Supporting the Virginia dental safety net is a critical part of achieving our goal to create healthy smiles for all Virginians. Through our grants program, the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation provides financial support to strengthen our safety net.

Grants are awarded to 501(c)(3) organizations that are working to advance positive oral health in Virginia communities. Emergency and Capacity Building Fund Dental clinics and staff can sometimes be met with unplanned emergencies. The Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation developed an Emergency and Capacity Building Fund to provide immediate funds to the safety net and/or nonprofit organizations that provide oral health services to vulnerable populations.

Emergency and capacity building grant requests are considered by the Foundation if it is determined that: The request is time-sensitive in nature and could not have been predicted or reasonably planned for. The request is to support short-term, urgent funding created by an unforeseen event that has or will significantly interrupt essential services to Virginia residents.

Clinic staff are considering a major shift in how they do business such as, adding dental services, billing for Medicaid, etc. The clinic has unexpectedly lost a key member of the team and needs assistance with restructuring their dental clinic operations. Requests of up to $10,000 may be submitted at any time by nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations located in, or serving the Commonwealth.
