Downtown Storefront Façade Improvement Program | City of Ontario, California Downtown Storefront Façade Improvement Program The City of Ontario’s Downtown Façade Improvement Program offers 50/50 matching grants of up to $25,000 to support the revitalization of commercial properties in Downtown Ontario.
As part of its ongoing commitment to revitalizing the Historic Downtown Area, the City established the program for businesses located within the designated program area. The program aims to encourage commercial investment, preserve the character of the Historic Downtown, and enhance the appearance of commercial corridors.
By improving façades and promoting a pedestrian-friendly environment, the program helps make Downtown Ontario more vibrant and welcoming for residents, visitors, and tourists. The Program is being funded by the Federal Government’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Applicants may be property owners or business tenants.
Properties must be located between Emporia Street to G Street (100-200 blocks of South Euclid and 100-600 blocks of North Euclid). One application per façade is allowed. Applicants must complete and submit the application with proof of ownership or owner consent, and a description of proposed improvements.
City Review & Feasibility Check City staff will verify eligibility and conduct an initial inspection to determine feasibility and develop a proposed scope of work. Applicant signs a Program Agreement outlining the scope, conditions, and timeline of the work. Submit Bids & Receive Notice to Proceed Applicant obtains at least 3 quotes for program-funded items; City approves lowest qualified bid and issues a Notice to Proceed.
Complete Work & Final Inspection After work is complete, the City conducts a final inspection and reviews permits and documentation. Applicant provides proof of payment and files a Notice of Completion; City reimburses up to the approved grant amount.
