be Member access SH Platform LinkedIn page bsky page European Partnership on Animal Scientific Conference 2027 Vacancies Projects Open Calls Second External Call of EUPAHW The European Partnership on Animal Health and Welfare (EUPAH&W) is pleased to announce the upcoming launch of its Second External Co-funded Research and Innovation Call, “Shaping the Future of Animal Health and Welfare” scheduled for January 2026.
The call will be supported by funding organisations across 19 countries, fostering international collaboration and impactful research and innovation. Proposals submitted under this call must focus on one of two topics: Proposals should aim to improve animal welfare throughout the production cycle, including birth, rearing, transport, and slaughter.
Where appropriate, proposals are expected to integrate socio-economic considerations alongside the core welfare objectives. For example, to explore trade-offs between welfare improvements and environmental, economic, or societal impacts. Industry involvement is encouraged for actions under this topic.
Proposals should support the development of innovative therapeutics and vaccines to prevent and control animal infectious diseases, reduce antimicrobial use, and enhance livestock resilience. Industry involvement is mandatory for proposals addressing Actions OO7-A2 or OO7-A3; and is strongly encouraged for other actions under this theme. Where relevant, proposals may aim to integrate socio-economic considerations.
Within your chosen thematic area, you must select one primary SRIA Action from the list below to address. It is then encouraged to also include one socio-economic Research Action (OO9-2 or OO9-4) as a supplementary objective, provided it supports the main theme. Socio-economic actions cannot be the main focus of a proposal.

AW OO4 A3 Improve welfare assessment during slaughter or emergency killing AW OO4 A6 Development of technologies to assess animal welfare during transport.
