Hero Fund America Fund | Community Foundation The HFA Fund was created in 2016 and now provides grants to EMS, Fire and Law Enforcement Agencies supporting education, training, lifesaving equipment, and mental health needs. Hero Fund America continues to present its annual fundraising event, the Hero Fund America Tour for First Responders. The Run 4 the Hills for First Responders annual road race retired in 2023, lasting 10 years.
The Hero Fund America Fund was created in partnership with Hero Fund America . The fund provides grants to benefit the education, training, life-saving equipment and mental health needs of first responders. The 2026 First Responders Grant Round will accept applications throughout the month of June.
Eligible first responder organizations can apply for up to $1,500 in funding for projects and programs that support the education, training, lifesaving equipment and/or mental health needs of first responders.
The following types of organizations from across the United States are eligible to apply: Volunteer fire departments Volunteer emergency medical service (EMS) agencies Paid law enforcement agencies with 25 or less employees Recent award recipients are not eligible to apply for the 2026 First Responders Grant Round unless they received funding prior to January 1, 2023.
The Hero Fund America Fund supports projects and programs that meet the following criteria: Organizations from across the United States that are volunteer fire departments, volunteer emergency medical service (EMS) agencies, or paid law enforcement agencies with 25 or less employees are eligible to apply Program or project will directly support the education, training, life-saving equipment or mental health needs of first responders Funding requests may not exceed $1,500 Total project budget should not exceed $10,000 All grant funds will be used for direct program expenses Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization, an organization with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, or a government entity located in the United States Training/educational upgrades Bridgeport Charter Township Police Department Brinker Volunteer Fire and Rescue Cole Camp Ambulance District POCUS point of care ultrasound Coventry EMS nitrous oxide alternative to opiate pain management Granville Engine and Hose Co.
