Please click log in or enter to start an entry for the award for which you are applying or submitting a nomination. ### The Kaur Foundation Religious Literacy Award The Kaur Foundation Religious Literacy Award is a collaboration between National Council for the Social Studies and the Kaur Foundation.
This award recognizes a teacher or administrator for their efforts to integrate knowledge of diverse faith traditions, inclusive of the Sikh tradition, into courses or curricula at their school or designed pedagogy with values of respect, and social justice that acknowledge and respect students’ religious practices.

Becker The Award for Global Understanding Given in Honor of James M. Becker recognizes a social studies educator (or a team of educators) who has made notable contributions in helping social studies students increase their understanding of the world.
### Christa McAuliffe Reach for the Stars Award In 1986 the Christa McAuliffe Reach for the Stars Award was established to help classroom teachers "reach for the stars" and achieve a dream that under ordinary circumstances would not be fulfilled. The Fund for the Advancement of Social Studies Education (FASSE) was created in 1984 by the Board of Directors of the National Council for the Social Studies.
The purpose of the fund is to support research and classroom application projects which improve social studies education, foster enlightened citizenship, and promote civic competence.
### Elementary Teacher of the Year Award The annual NCSS Elementary Level Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award recognizes exceptional social studies teachers for grades K-6 who teach social studies regularly and systematically in elementary school settings.
### Geography Grant Award The NCSS Geography Grant Award was created to promote geography education in the schools; to enhance the geographic literacy of students at the classroom, district, or statewide level; and to encourage the integration of geography into the social studies curriculum/classroom.
### Jean Dresden Grambs Distinguished Career Research Award The Jean Dresden Grambs Distinguished Career Research Award recognizes professionals who have made extensive contributions to knowledge concerning significant areas of social studies education through meritorious research.
### Larry Metcalf Exemplary Dissertation Award The Larry Metcalf Exemplary Dissertation Award recognizes outstanding research completed in pursuit of the doctoral degree. Award recipients receive: commemorative gift; an opportunity to present a session at the NCSS Annual Conference on their research.
### Middle Level Teacher of the Year Award The annual NCSS Middle Level Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award recognizes exceptional social studies teachers for grades 5-8 who teach social studies regularly and systematically in middle school settings, and at least half-time in middle or junior high school settings.
### NCSS Exemplary Research Award The Exemplary Research Award recognizes scholarship with the potential to significantly impact and/or transform social studies education research and practice. ### NCSS Outstanding Service Award This award recognizes and honors one or more NCSS members for outstanding long-term service to NCSS and a local, state, and regional council.
Award winners receive a plaque or other appropriate recognition and will be granted lifetime membership in NCSS. ### Secondary Teacher of the Year Award The annual NCSS Secondary Social Studies Teacher of the Year Award recognizes exceptional social studies teachers for grades 7-12 who teach social studies regularly and systematically in high school settings, and at least half-time in high school settings.

Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education & Human Resources (IUSE: EHR) Program is sponsored by National Science Foundation (NSF). The National Leadership Grants for Libraries Program (NLG-L) supports projects that address critical needs of the library and archives fields and have the potential to advance practice and strengthen library and archival services for the American public. Successful proposals will generate results such as new models, tools, research findings, services, practices, and/or alliances that can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend and leverage the benefits of federal investment. Applications to IMLS should both advance knowledge and understanding and ensure that the federal investment made generates benefits to society. Specifically, the goals for this program are to generate projects of far-reaching impact that: • Build the workforce and institutional capacity for managing the national information infrastructure and serving the information and education needs of the public. • Build the capacity of libraries and archives to lead and contribute to efforts that improve community well-being and strengthen civic engagement. • Improve the ability of libraries and archives to provide broad access to and use of information and collections with emphasis on collaboration to avoid duplication and maximize reach. • Strengthen the ability of libraries to provide services to affected communities in the event of an emergency or disaster. • Strengthen the ability of libraries, archives, and museums to work collaboratively for the benefit of the communities they serve. Throughout its work, IMLS places importance on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This may be reflected in an IMLS-funded project in a wide range of ways, including efforts to serve individuals of diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals with disabilities; individuals with limited functional literacy or information skills; individuals having difficulty using a library or museum; and underserved urban and rural communities, including children from families with incomes below the poverty line. The California Department of Education (CDE) Early Education Division is making approximately .7 million available to expand California State Preschool Program (CSPP) services statewide, appropriated under the 2021 Budget Act. Eligible applicants are local educational agencies (LEAs), including school districts, county offices of education, community college districts, and direct-funded charter schools—both current CSPP contractors and new applicants. Funding supports full-day/full-year or part-day/part-year preschool services for income-eligible children beginning in FY 2024–25. Awards are allocated by county based on Local Planning Council priority areas and application scores, with redistribution provisions if county allocations are underutilized.
