Priority should be given to need-based requests for “last resort” funds, supplementing financial assistance provided by the day school or trip provider, family, and all other possible sources, for individuals and families who would otherwise not be able to attend. Participants who receive this funding must identify as Jewish, be ages 13-25, and reside in our service area or attend Jewish day school in our service area.
Funding from the Federation must not contribute to more than 75% of the total trip cost for any one participant. Formerly known as Israel Connections/Experiences (ICE), the Sandra & Lawrence Post Israel Grants Program of Jewish Federation Los Angeles provides grants to local high school and college students visiting Israel for the first time on peer- educational trips primarily ranging from 2-6 weeks.
This includes the annual March of the Living trip which takes high school students and Holocaust survivors on an unforgettable journey to Poland and Israel. We provide grants of $500 per student, who also may receive grants from their synagogues and other communal organizations.
We recognize that this assistance may still put the trips out of reach for many families, so our Federation also connects the students to need-based financial aid. We are pleased tooffer subsidiesforSanDiego Jewish teens participating in an immersive experience. Immersive experiences include 2+ day Jewish retreats, conferences, trips, and other experiences outside of San Diego County.
If you have any questions about your program’s eligibility please contact Wendy McCreary, contact information below. Subsidies are awarded on a first- come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Applications should be submitted with proof of enrollment at least one month Thanks to a generous endowment from the Thalheimer family, Jewish Federation is able to offer scholarships for young adults to study and travel in Israel.
Please submit a 1-2 page description of the Israel program with which you will travel/study, including how you will benefit, what your experience will enable you to bring back to the Arkansas Jewish community, and a budget (indicating the specific amount you are requesting from JFAR) to director@jewisharkansas. org.
