Healthy Behaviors - Obici Healthcare Foundation Healthy Behaviors Initiative We are working to prevent disease and promote healthy behaviors. According to Healthy People 2030, regular physical activity can improve the health and quality of life for people of all ages, even ones with chronic disease or disability.
The focus of the Obici Healthcare Foundation’s Healthy Behaviors Initiative is to increase access to nutritional foods and physical activity and to improve health outcomes related to chronic diseases.
To learn more about the Foundation’s investments in Healthy Behaviors and nonprofit Healthy Spaces Grants (HS Grants) Healthy behaviors such as physical activity and healthy eating can prevent chronic diseases, control weight, improve mood, boost energy, and improve longevity and wellbeing.
Access to community assets such as playgrounds, walking trails, community gardens and farmers’ markets make it easier for people to make healthier choices that have the potential to improve their health. Examples of fundable projects include, but are not limited to, the development and/or improvement of walking trails, playgrounds and parks; and farmers markets, community gardens, healthy corner stores and mobile markets.
While educational programs, classes and promotional campaigns can be helpful in building awareness, demands for and commitment to healthy behaviors, the purpose of this grant funding is to support “shovel-ready” projects within the Foundation’s service area that create or improve community infrastructure for physical activity and healthy eating. These meetings are an opportunity to discuss your organization, explore your proposal idea, and ensure alignment with the Foundation’s funding priorities.

ET (Additional deadlines and grant awards are contingent upon previous cycle’s decisions and availability of funds.) Funding Cycles & Deadlines The Foundation offers multiple funding cycles throughout the year. Each cycle includes a proposal deadline, review period, and grant start date.
All proposals are due by 2:00 P. M. ET on the stated deadline date.
Funding Cycle 1: Friday, May 15, 2026 Funding Cycle 2: Wednesday, July 15, 2026 Funding Cycle 3: Tuesday, December 1, 2026* Applicants are encouraged to plan ahead and allow time for pre-submission meetings prior to proposal deadlines. Funding Cycle 3 is subject to the availability of funds. Additional cycles and awards may vary based on funding availability.

OHF supports community-driven solutions for improving the overall health and well-being of all residents within its service area, particularly those experiencing the greatest disparities in health based on income, race/ethnicity and geographic location.
