India Health Fund - Supporting Healthcare Innovations We support innovation development and adoption to improve healthcare outcomes around the world India Health Fund is a not-for-profit organization that was set up as a collaborative initiative of Tata Trusts and The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Our mission is to help reduce preventable deaths from communicable diseases and other public health risks.
We do this by de-risking the development of promising technology and science-led solutions that have the potential to make a significant difference in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of these diseases. We collaborate with the public and private sectors to facilitate the development, adoption and scaling of these solutions. Our aim is to improve health outcomes, with a focus on primary care and in low resource settings.
We incubate and finance the development and adoption of science and technology-led healthcare solutions in collaboration with our partners. The solutions we support focus on addressing need gaps in 5 areas related to communicable diseases: 4. Treatment and Care Pathways 5.
Digital Interventions and Surveillance We support innovations that can be adopted at scale and in low resource settings around the world. We aim to be capital efficient in development and cost effective in use to ensure strong investment and use cases.
Our partnerships and collaborations help stimulate investments in healthcare, accelerate the adoption of new solutions which can ultimately improve outcomes for patients and ensure large scale impact. Our Approach ensures that the solutions we support adequately address the existing gaps in healthcare delivery, offer optimal capital efficiency and deliver wide-scale impact. We follow a 5 step approach: 1.

Market entry, adoption into the health system and access India Health Fund was founded by the Tata Trusts in 2017, soon after the UN SDG goals were penned, in an effort to eliminate communicable diseases. Fast forward half a decade, today, India Health Fund is de-risking the development of 19 science-backed innovations — diagnostics, digital tools, and platforms — for infectious diseases and other public health risks.
Six of these game-changing tools are now in use in public health settings, at a minimal or no cost to patients in the remotest corners of the country. In our latest annual update 2024-2025 , we recollect and reflect on the progress and pitfalls of the year that went by, and invite you to join us in this journey. IHF is a collaborative platform.
Developing strategic partnerships across the entire value chain from innovation development to adoption is at the core of IHF’s growth journey. We have and will continue to develop strong partnerships with stakeholders representing the public and private sectors to ensure wide-scale impact in our collective goal of improving healthcare outcomes around the world.
Tata Trusts is amongst India’s oldest, non-sectarian philanthropic organizations, which has played a pioneering role in enhancing the quality of life of the people and communities it seeks to help.
Transforming itself into a modern philanthropic organization, Tata Trusts has ensured its initiatives and interventions have a contemporary relevance to the nation through its focus on the areas of education; healthcare and nutrition; rural livelihoods; technology, natural resources management; enhancing civil society and governance, media, arts, crafts and culture.
Through collaborations with government bodies, international agencies and like-minded private sector organizations, Tata Trusts has strengthened its contribution to the developmental landscape of the country to nurture a self-sustaining eco-system that collectively works across all these areas. IHF was conceptualised by TATA Trusts which is also our main supporter.
The Global Fund is a 21st-century partnership designed to accelerate the end of AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria as epidemics. As a partnership between governments, civil society, the private sector and people affected by the diseases, the Global Fund mobilizes and invests nearly US$4 billion a year to support programs run by local experts in more than 100 countries.
By challenging barriers and embracing innovative approaches, The Global Fund is working together to better serve people affected by the diseases. IHF was seeded by Tata Trusts with strategic support from The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
In line with the Trusts’ vision of creating institutions focused on research and sustainable long term solutions to health challenges, IHF was conceived to accelerate progress towards the sustainable development goal of eliminating Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria. IHF does this by supporting innovation development and adoption to improve healthcare outcomes around the world.
While the initial focus was on Tuberculosis, Malaria and other Vector-borne diseases, we have expanded our work to also address other communicable diseases and public health risks.
IHF is envisioned to be an organization which will collaborate with the private and public sectors to develop and scale up innovative solutions, business models and financing mechanisms to improve outcomes in diagnosis, treatment, prevention and eventual elimination of infectious diseases and other public health risks.
Since its inception, The India Health Fund has helped enterprises build solutions towards eliminating infectious diseases, validate their ideas by keeping people at the heart of their work, generate evidence for their lifesaving products, gain market insights and pave sustainable routes to the market so that the innovations reach those most in need.
