Student Grants - Kleinman Center for Energy Policy From research to conferences, the Kleinman Center has funded more than 200 Penn student grants. Grants are offered four times per year in the spring, summer, fall, and winter, and are open to individual students as well as student groups. Here’s how Kleinman Center grants enrich student learning.
Research. Get the resources you need for research. Travel.
Fund travel to a conference or event. Internships. Unpaid internship?
Apply for a stipend. Events. Organize an event on-campus or beyond.
Projects. Launch a new project with the supplies you need. Other.
We welcome your energy policy idea. Tell us about it. Please see specific funding-type requirements below.
Funding decisions are based on funding availability, student eligibility, energy policy relevance, and completeness of the application. Applicants will be notified of funding decisions within 15 days of the submission deadline. Please carefully review the following requirements before submitting a grant request: Be submitted by a currently enrolled Penn student in good academic and financial standing with the University.
Include a detailed breakdown of expected budget Exclude any expenses incurred prior to funding approval. All requests must be prospective. Propose a relevant deliverable (blog, recap, etc.) Something that contributes to the Kleinman Center’s body of work.
Please note that all awards are taxable income. Research Funding Requests: must identify a Penn faculty advisor willing to administer the grant and submit a brief letter of support with the application. Doctoral students seeking research funding should apply directly through our Research Grants Program .
Travel Funding Requests: The Kleinman Center will no longer directly book international student travel. Funding will be provided as an award check following receipt of grant deliverables. Internship Stipend Requests: The Kleinman Center is only able to support internships at non-profit organizations.
Funding is contingent upon meeting all related policies and requirements set by the host organization. Applications must include a letter of support from your supervisor. Applications that include matching funding from the host organization will have funding preference.
Event Funding Requests : Applications are for funding support only. More than the research, the Kleinman Center opens the door to so many further opportunities.

The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students.
