National Black Nurses Association and Lifepoint Health Announce Health Equity in Nursing Scholarship | Lifepoint Health National Black Nurses Association and Lifepoint Health Announce Health Equity in Nursing Scholarship SILVER SPRING, MD, (May 2, 2023) – The National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) has partnered with Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network dedicated to making communities healthier ® , to award the Lifepoint Health Equity in Nursing Scholarship to five nursing students of color who are actively pursuing a degree in nursing.
Scholarships will be awarded annually to student nurses who have expressed an interest in caring for patients in the following settings: Acute care hospital (3 scholarships available) Inpatient rehabilitation hospital (1 scholarship available) Behavioral health hospital (1 scholarship available) Part of the NBNA Scholarships program, the Lifepoint Health Equity in Nursing Scholarship will give $5,000 to five eligible NBNA nurse members to support their education.
Each scholarship recipient also will have the opportunity to partner with a Lifepoint Health clinical leader to receive mentorship throughout the duration of their education. “NBNA applauds Lifepoint Health’s commitment to creating an inclusive, community-based healthcare delivery system that provides equitable opportunities for all people,” said Dr. Martha A. Dawson, NBNA President.
“We are thrilled to partner with the company to help attract and support diverse nursing students who will benefit from mentorship and financial support from the Lifepoint Health Equity in Nursing Scholarship program. We need more partners like Lifepoint that are willing to step up and address the lack of diversity in nursing and the current nursing shortages.
” Student eligibility and scholar selection will be based on the following criteria: Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program within a public or private academic institution Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2. 75 on a 4.
