Ancient, Venerable, and Large Old Trees Short Course is a residential program from Oak Spring Garden Foundation that funds immersive study in the biology, ecology, history, and conservation of ancient and significant old trees. Led by expert Michael Gaige, the 2026 course takes place October 5–9 at the Foundation's estate in Upperville, Virginia. The program is open internationally to practitioners, scholars, naturalists, arborists, and anyone with a serious interest in forest ecology and old-growth tree conservation.
