gov The Rural Medical Access Program (RMAP) offers financial incentives, in the form of reimbursement of insurance premiums for physicians who provide obstetrical and prenatal care in federally designated Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUAs/MUPs) and Primary Care Health Professional Shortage Areas (Primary Care Physicians who practice at least 50% of the time in a federally designated MUAs/MUPs or Primary Care HPSAs, and whose practice includes at least 10% MaineCare patient Physicians who practice in a service area with a population under 20,000 and maintain a caseload that includes 50% patients on MaineCare and/or are from a federally designated MUAs/MUPs or Primary Care HPSAs To be considered for RMAP, physicians must be practicing in a shortage area in Maine, have performed deliveries and/or provided prenatal care and have malpractice insurance for prenatal care and/or obstetrical services between the dates of July 1 and December 31, 2025.
