Research Funding Database MHRC-Mitacs-iA Workplace Mental Health Studentship (Fall 2026) MHRC-Mitacs-iA Workplace Mental Health Studentship (Fall 2026) Well-being, Health and Biomedical Discovery Thursday 12th, February 2026 Tuesday 17th, February 2026 Mitacs and MHRC (with iA Financial Group’s support) are proud to co-launch a national studentship designed to empower and support early-career researchers leading innovative, community-based mental health projects focused on workplace mental health.
MHRC, Mitacs and iA Financial Group are partnering to support the brightest university or college students to conduct research in mental health at one of Canada’s many post-secondary institutions.
These interns will share their time between academic institutions and partner organizations, tying together their research with the end-users to ensure the project is tailored to and appropriate for that community’s needs and people with lived experience.
This jointly funded internship is part of MHRC’s 2026-2027 Studentship cycle, where researchers share their time between academic institutions and community service providers, tying together their research with the needs of the end-users — the community and people with lived experience.
MHRC aims to drive systemic change by encouraging the adoption of effective, research-informed, and client-centric approaches to mental health treatment. MHRC invites researchers undertaking projects in the area of digital mental health and AI, noting that collaboration with community members and those with lived experience is a requirement to qualify for this funding. Purpose. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA), issued by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH), invites Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) cooperative agreement applications from small business concerns (SBCs) that propose to develop new, or to improve existing application(s) of nanotechnology-based therapeutics or/and in vivo diagnostics. This FOA will specifically support pre-clinical optimization and testing of these cancer-relevant nanotechnology applications against the intended cancer type. The proposed projects must be milestone-driven and must be clearly directed toward development of an ultimate commercial product. The outcomes are expected to advance the discovery and pre-clinical optimization phase so that an Investigational New Drug (IND) or Investigational Device Exemptions (IDE) application could be submitted to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the end or shortly after completion of the Phase II project period. To facilitate these steps, the NCI will assist the awardees in various ways, including the support through the NCI-sponsored Nanotechnology Characterization Laboratory. This FOA will NOT support basic research projects, studies on disease mechanisms, and clinical trials. Mechanism of Support.
