Applying for a Grant | MCCF Grant Application Process Grants will be considered only for charitable organizations with tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code. Grantees, to be eligible, must be located in or provide substantial services in Montgomery County, Texas.
Grant requests will be considered in the following fields of service: Health & Wellness, Education, Youth, Senior Citizens, Social Services, Public Safety, Environment, Cultural Arts, Heritage of Montgomery County, Civic Affairs and Recreation. We look for projects that significantly contribute to the welfare of residents of Montgomery County.

Except in the case where funds are designated for such items, grants for debt service, equipment needs and general support of institutions will be given much lower priority. In order to be considered, potential grantees must have submitted applications in the form approved by the Foundation and in the time frame designated for the grant making cycle. The grant request form is online in early July of every year. Funds are given at the end of the year for use in the following year and are not to be used to pay expenses incurred prior to the receipt of the funds in December.
Grant request forms are available online beginning July 1 and closes on September 15th at 5:00 pm. Grants must be submitted in hard copy. Two copies are required.
Grant requests are reviewed and vetted by staff and a team of community volunteers who make funding recommendations to the Montgomery County Community Foundation Board. This occurs in early October. The Montgomery County Community Foundation board reviews recommendations for approval at the October board meeting.
Approved requests are notified in writing by mid-November and include the funding agreement. Checks are presented at MCCF’s December grant event. Nonprofit organizations awarded grants are required to submit a final report before being considered for a grant in any subsequent year.
The final report requirements are included with the annual grant request form. It is the applicant’s duty to advise Montgomery County Community Foundation should circumstances arise which would change or affect any aspect of the grant request. The availability of funds for grants in all fields will be determined by funding generated from income in each interest area or from unrestricted funds.
No grants will be considered for: individuals (with the exception of scholarships given through existing non-profit and tax-exempt institutions and Long Term Disaster Recovery grants); the support of any religion or religious institution (though applications by religious organizations for community service programs may be considered); or support of any political party or lobbying effort.
Normally, funding for a particular program will not be repeated in the following year, but exceptions to this policy may be made by the Foundation in a case where it deems the repeat funding to be critical and the program essential to the community at large.
