Defense Accelerator – Montgomery TechLab Building Dual-Use Applications The Montgomery TechLab Defense Accelerator is a flagship initiative driving innovation, entrepreneurship, and economic growth in the Montgomery region.
Launched to strengthen the connection between emerging technology companies and the defense ecosystem at Maxwell-Gunter Air Force Base, the accelerator has quickly evolved into a high-impact platform for advancing dual-use innovation across Alabama.
Through strategic partnerships, expert mentorship, and direct engagement with defense stakeholders, the program equips founders to scale technologies in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and application development —while positioning Montgomery as a growing hub for defense innovation, high-skill job creation, and long-term economic diversification.
Applications for the next cohort open April 1 and close May 15—inviting the next generation of founders to step into the program and build solutions that matter for both national security and commercial markets. The MTL Defense Accelerator is designed for companies building technologies with potential dual-use applications in both commercial and defense markets.
