Educational Support Grant Application Apply for the new Educational Support Grant Apply for the new Educational Support Grant Students pursuing a career in early child care/development and attending a California community college may be eligible to apply for the Educational Support Grant.
Grant funding (to support tuition and/or textbook costs) is based on submission of a complete application, the number of eligible students and successful completion of courses with a grade of "C" or better . Step 1: Confirm eligibility Please answer the following questions to determine your eligibility for an Educational Support Grant Are you currently enrolled in early childhood education or child development courses (or GE courses required for an AS/AA ECE or CD degree) at a California community college, with the intent to seek a new, or maintain a currently held Child Development Permit? What is your declared major?
Are you employed in the child care field in California? (Must meet employment eligibility requirements.) Reason for license exemption Do you live in California?
Are you enrolled in at least a 3 unit ECE/CD Practicum/Student Teaching course or in at least two (2) core Child Development/Early Childhood Education courses as approved by the campus administrator and/or CDTC staff for the current semester you are applying for? What college is this application for?
(Note: Students enrolled in courses at multiple California Community Colleges and/or multiple colleges within a college district, MUST submit a SEPARATE application for each college for each semester/term.) You are not eligible to apply for the new Educational Support Grant. 1) Eligible students must be pursuing a career in early childhood or child development, or seeking a child development permit. 2) Only the majors listed on the online application meet eligibility requirements.
This major must be reported on the student’s transcripts. 3) Priority one students must work in an early childhood setting. 4) Priority one employment must be with an eligible employer; nannies, family, friends and neighbors who care for children are not eligible under priority one.

Priority is given to the Summer/Fall applications submitted by the 20th of October and/or the Winter/Spring applications received by March 1. You must submit a separate application for each college you are attending for each semester. This college is no longer accepting 2025-2026 Education Support Grant (ESG) applications.
Funding has been expended for the 2025-2026 program year. Thank you for your interest, please check the CDTC website in the Fall for the 2026-2027 ESG application. You already have an application for this college and semester.
