Off-Site Construction Challenge - Natural Resources Canada Energy Innovation Program Off-Site Construction Challenge Build fast, build well : Challenging Canada’s residential construction sector to modernize the ways it builds energy efficient homes using off-site construction (OSC) solutions.
Accelerating the pace of the housing supply is a national priority, and it goes hand in hand with ensuring that homes are affordable, resilient, and environmentally sustainable. This commitment was made clear in Budget 2025, with the launch of Build Canada Homes (BCH). BCH aims to accelerate and finance large-scale housing projects and catalyze the construction industry in adopting modern methods of construction.
In alignment with these priorities, and to help meet this critical need, the Office of Energy Research and Development (OERD) is launching the Off-Site Construction Challenge (“the Challenge”). The Challenge, delivered under the Energy Innovation Program (EIP), drives the industry to design and demonstrate how innovative OSC methods can be used to build more energy efficient and resilient multi-unit residential buildings.
Finalists will receive up to $180,000 in grant funding for the planning and development of their design. The winner will receive up to $10 million in contribution funding to help bring the design to life.
