We seek to respond to the needs of today’s healthcare workforce, including new categories of providers and multi-disciplinary teams. Working with community stakeholders to develop and implement solutions increases the likelihood of long-term success.
Prevention is recognition that much of our health is determined by elements outside of hospital and clinic walls. Considering the broader social determinants that impact community health outcomes often calls for innovative approaches and solutions. We seek out innovative pilots or demonstration projects to provide proofs of concept.
If successful, these programs could be scaled into private or public programs to improve community health. Having a realistic plan to maintain and expand successful programs is a core component of our grantmaking.
Organizational Capacity Building By definition, capacity building is an effort to improve an organization’s ability to fulfill its mission through a blend of sound management, strong governance, and dedication to assessing and achieving results. Investing in the strengthening of healthcare organizations means investing in the strengthening in the healthcare field writ large.

UniHealth Foundation is seeking grant applicants with the following criteria: Your organization must be certified as tax exempt under Section 501(c) (3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. Your organization must be able to provide audited financial statements for the most recently completed fiscal year, and have an annual operating budget of over $1,000,000.
Applicants that cannot meet the financial documentation requirements may be eligible for an exemption on a case-by-case basis upon review. The primary work of your organization must target the Southern California region, specifically Los Angeles and/or Orange Counties. However, requests from other California counties will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Limited funding is available for other areas throughout California. Your proposed project must have a clear health focus and seek to effectively and efficiently impact underserved communities. Your organization should have a history and expertise in working in the proposed community.
Your organization should have a track record of creating projects that are both culturally and linguistically competent to the needs of those you propose to serve. Your project should have a clear path to sustainability at the end of the grant term.
