Grant applications will be accepted twice a year – in the spring and fall. Organizations may apply at a time which best suits their funding needs and fiscal calendars. Only one grant will be awarded per organization annually.
In addition to PPL Foundation funded grants, PPL Electric Utilities invests in programs that improve and enhance educational opportunities for students through Pennsylvania’s Education Improvement Tax Credit grant program. PPL Electric Utilities provides support to eligible Education Improvement Organizations and Pre-K Scholarship Organizations. We do not participate in the Scholarship category of this program.
Please note, however, that our participation in this program is dependent on state approval.

Applicants should be located in a region served by PPL Electric Utilities.
Grant requests from organizations located outside the PPL Electric Utilities region may be considered, but the organization should prove that its activities benefit the PPL Electric Utilities region in addition to other areas. How can this grant be used? PPL is committed to building healthy communities through financial support to nonprofits working in the areas of education and development of sustainable communities.
Sustaining grants can be used for operating funds and day-to-day program management. Do I have to be located in PPL Electric Utilities’ Service Territory? Our objective is to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve, with a particular focus on the 29 Pennsylvania counties served by PPL Electric Utilities.
We serve the following regions in PA: Can I receive more than one grant from the PPL Foundation? An organization is only eligible to receive one grant once per calendar year. Are there any other considerations or requirements?
PPL will not be the sole contributor to capital campaign requests. No multi year commitments will be made. Requests from political, labor, religious groups, individuals or small groups of individuals, will not be considered.

The PPL Foundation contributes millions annually to organizations working in the following areas: Inclusive skill-building or entrepreneurship training Resilience & Sustainability Environmental stewardship Neighborhood revitalization How will the grant recipients be decided? All applications will be reviewed by regional committees of local PPL employees and the officers and board of the PPL Foundation.
All applications will undergo the same review process, with a focus on whether projects: Align with the PPL Foundation’s core mission and focus areas of education; diversity, equity and inclusion; and sustainable communities. Address an urgent need in the community. Target underserved populations.
Fill a unique niche or complement other ongoing efforts in the community. Who is on the regional committee that reviews grants? The regional committees are made up of employees who live and work in the communities they serve to ensure local consideration of each grant application.
How much does the foundation expect to award annually? Is there a set amount or target for the PPL Foundation? The PPL Foundation awards $1.
5 million annually through grants. Do ratepayer dollars help fund the PPL Foundation? PPL Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization.
Funded solely by PPL Corporation, the foundation was formed to support community initiatives in the areas served by PPL Corporation’s utilities. Access the portal to apply. When a grant cycle is open, the application for that grant will be available in the portal.

The Homeless Youth Program is a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services that funds services for homeless and at-risk youth across Illinois.
