Through the generosity of our sponsors, our Team Grant Program matches schools and organizations that are interested in adopting the world's largest and fastest growing academic robotics competitions with the program resources necessary to get started. This unique program allows the REC Foundation to provide the resources needed to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers. Grant support is based upon sponsor requirements.
RECF does its best to support all requests, but can not guarantee each applicant will receive support. Whether you are developing a robotics program or starting a competition team, grants are available for you! Where does grant funding at the RECF come from? The RECF receives grant funding from many sources. Government grants, private donations, and corporate sponsorships are the most common.
How does the RECF choose its grantees? Grants are distributed to teams according to guidelines set by the funders, such as geographic location, historically underrepresented demographics, and/or age groups. Once a grant request is received, the RECF grants team begins an initial review of your application to determine if your school/organization meets a funder’s criteria.
The background check requirement has been completed, what is my next step? Teams must be set up or renewed in RobotEvents and placed in your cart. For any additional questions or assistance, please contact our grant support team by emailing grants@recfoundation.
net . If I meet the grant criteria set by the funder, what happens next? If a match exists, the grants team will contact the applicant via telephone or email to clarify any questions.
This process ensures grant applicants are still interested and that the applicable terms and conditions fulfills the needs of the school or organization. The grant applicant is requested to verify their email address before proceeding to the next step of a background check. No credit checks are initiated in this background check.
Please reach out to our grant support team by emailing grants@recfoundation. net for any questions. I received notification and my grant was approved.
How do I apply these funds to my team registration? Accept terms and conditions. The email asks you to accept the terms and conditions associated with the grant.
Carefully review these terms before accepting. Remember, the terms and conditions are a legal agreement to complete the grant requirements in return for the award received. Discount Application: Once your teams are registered, you need to apply the discount(s) to your cart located on the dashboard in RobotEvents.
This discount corresponds to the grant funds awarded. If you already created your invoice, please click on the hyperlinked invoice number that includes the team registrations and click “Start Over” at the bottom of the page. Note: You will receive a warning that you will delete the current invoice number and press delete.
This adds the teams back to the cart. If you have equipment associated with the grant, please go to your dashboard and click “add to cart” for each equipment item you were granted. Once all the discounts are added to your cart, you may begin the checkout process.
*Caution* – Please be sure to check that you have a zero balance in your cart. If additional items need to be purchased outside of your granted items, please create a separate invoice/order. I already paid for my registration before receiving the grant.
Can I get a refund? We do not offer refunds on registrations or give funding for teams that are already paid or have a PO in a processing status. Reach out to our grant support management team prior to paying for team registrations to see what grants may have available.
2025-2026 Signature Event Updates An Event Partner wanting to apply to host a Signature Event must have hosted events for at least 2 seasons prior to applying. Signature Events must use the officially branded award banners for the Excellence Award and Tournament/Teamwork Champions Award. When hanging field skirts the VEX Robotics logo/brand name can not be covered up on the competition fields.
VEX V5 Robotics Competition Signature Events may have regional capacity and max per organization restrictions lifted 8 weeks before the event if the event is not full (similar to the process already in place for VEX IQ Robotics Competition Signature Events). Minimum pit size reduced to 8’x 8’ instead of 10’x10’.
Beginning in the 2025-2026 season, the REC Foundation will collect $10 instead of $5 per team registration on all Signature Events. This is to help offset travel costs for REC Foundation staff to support these larger events.
2025-2026 Signature Event Application Reminders Existing Signature Events only need to complete the Final Application (due by March 31, 2025) New Signature Event concepts will need to complete the Initial Proposal by January 31, 2025 and if approved, complete the Final Application by March 31, 2025.

Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Education & Human Resources (IUSE: EHR) Program is sponsored by National Science Foundation (NSF). This program promotes novel, creative, and transformative approaches to generating and using new knowledge about STEM teaching and learning to improve STEM education for undergraduate students. It supports projects that bring recent advances in STEM knowledge into undergraduate education, adapt, improve, and incorporate evidence-based practices, and lay the groundwork for institutional improvement in STEM education. Professional development for instructors to ensure adoption of new and effective pedagogical techniques is a potential topic of interest.
The National Leadership Grants for Libraries Program (NLG-L) supports projects that address critical needs of the library and archives fields and have the potential to advance practice and strengthen library and archival services for the American public. Successful proposals will generate results such as new models, tools, research findings, services, practices, and/or alliances that can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend and leverage the benefits of federal investment. Applications to IMLS should both advance knowledge and understanding and ensure that the federal investment made generates benefits to society. Specifically, the goals for this program are to generate projects of far-reaching impact that: • Build the workforce and institutional capacity for managing the national information infrastructure and serving the information and education needs of the public. • Build the capacity of libraries and archives to lead and contribute to efforts that improve community well-being and strengthen civic engagement. • Improve the ability of libraries and archives to provide broad access to and use of information and collections with emphasis on collaboration to avoid duplication and maximize reach. • Strengthen the ability of libraries to provide services to affected communities in the event of an emergency or disaster. • Strengthen the ability of libraries, archives, and museums to work collaboratively for the benefit of the communities they serve. Throughout its work, IMLS places importance on diversity, equity, and inclusion. This may be reflected in an IMLS-funded project in a wide range of ways, including efforts to serve individuals of diverse geographic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals with disabilities; individuals with limited functional literacy or information skills; individuals having difficulty using a library or museum; and underserved urban and rural communities, including children from families with incomes below the poverty line. Application Process: The application process for the NLG-L program has two phases; applicants must begin by applying for Phase I. For Phase I, all applicants must submit Preliminary Proposals by the September 20th deadline listed for this Notice of Funding Opportunity. For Phase II, only selected applicants will be invited to submit Full Proposals, and only those Invited Full Proposals will be considered for funding. Invited Full Proposals will be due March 20, 2024. Funding Opportunity Number: NLG-LIBRARIES-FY24. Assistance Listing: 45.312. Funding Instrument: G. Category: AR,HU. Award Amount: $50K – $1M per award.
The California Department of Education (CDE) Early Education Division is making approximately .7 million available to expand California State Preschool Program (CSPP) services statewide, appropriated under the 2021 Budget Act. Eligible applicants are local educational agencies (LEAs), including school districts, county offices of education, community college districts, and direct-funded charter schools—both current CSPP contractors and new applicants. Funding supports full-day/full-year or part-day/part-year preschool services for income-eligible children beginning in FY 2024–25. Awards are allocated by county based on Local Planning Council priority areas and application scores, with redistribution provisions if county allocations are underutilized.
