Every year the Reliance Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships supports 5,000 meritorious students based on a merit-cum-means criteria for their undergraduate college education, empowering them to continue their studies without financial burden.

Ashibullah Ahmed Bin Hussain Reliance Foundation Scholar 2022-23 MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) Guwahati Medical College, Guwahati Having grown up in the remote district of Darrang in Assam, young Ashibullah Ahmed Bin Hussain dreams of becoming a cardiologist. Currently, a first-year MBBS student of the Gauhati Medical College, Guwahati, Assam, this Reliance Foundation UG Scholar is gearing up to realise this dream.

Ashibullah comes from a humble family background. Their livelihood was mostly from agriculture. Although his father worked in a venture school (a school established by the people of the locality).

While he imparted education to children from Class 6 to 8 from 1989 till 2020, he did now draw any salary. Since 2021, he started getting paid Rs 10,000/- per month under a new Government act for venture schools in Assam. His mother is a homemaker.

He also has a younger brother studying in the 12th grade and an elder sister, who is now married. Ashibullah is aware of the efforts his father has put in to give him a good education. "Medical field is all about helping people.

A doctor's life is always dedicated to patients and they are always there to make people healthy and prevent disease, a doctor is always connected with people for their well-being, which I like most. I feel quite happy after being selected for the scholarship. It will help me a lot as my family financial condition is not sound.

My dream is to become a cardiologist", says Ashibullah. Ashibullah is very excited about being awarded the Reliance Foundation UG Scholarship. He says, "I think the scholarship will provide me proper guidance to help me in building a good career and being a good doctor.

Also, the financial assistance will be the most helpful, it will help me purchase study material, buy required instruments for my course, rent and other expenditures to sustain in an expensive city like Guwahati." Upon completing his degree, Ashibullah plans to form an organisation with other medical professionals to provide healthcare facilities to the needy.

Reliance Foundation Scholar 2022-23 BA LLB (Bachelor of Arts - Bachelor of Legislative Law) National Law Institute University, Bhopal Bhumika Chauhan, a first-year student of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal is overjoyed to be selected for the Reliance Foundation Scholarship 2022-23 Programme. Bhumika is amongst the 5,000 students selected for this prestigious scholarship programme.

Nearly 40,000 students applied for the scholarships. Originally from Haridwar, a small town in Uttarakhand, Bhumika is confident that she has the skillset required to be a successful lawyer. Her confidence and perseverance along with the zeal to become a lawyer to help those living in marginalised communities to get justice are qualities that have shaped Bhumika.

Nehru College Jhajjar Deepanshu Sharma from Munimpur village of Jhajjar, Haryana, wants to be a role model to young people, just the way he was inspired and guided by a cousin working for a large multinational technology corporation. The 19-year-old, whose age belies the challenges life has recently thrown at him, believes that his selection for a Reliance Foundation Scholarship is the first step towards his goals.

"I got my first computer when I was in Class 9. Since then, I have wanted to only work with computers. A cousin instilled in me the desire to pursue data science.

With the Reliance Foundation Scholarship, I do not have to worry about the cost of my education and can now see the road ahead clearly," he said. Deepanshu is studying Bachelors of Computer Applications at Government Post Graduate Nehru College in Jhajjar and plans to pursue Master’s in data science. Deepanshu had to tutor school-going children to contribute to his family’s income when COVID-19 affected his father’s employment.

He took up teaching with zest and found in himself a passion for teaching and guiding youngsters. Though those challenges are not there before him now, Deepanshu has not forgotten the fulfilment he found in teaching and mentoring. From a middle-class family, Natasha’s father works in a shop, her mother is a homemaker and her elder sister has recently taken up a job. Her humble background has never deterred her from dreaming big. Her father has been instrumental in encouraging her to pursue her studies and follow her dreams.

She is the apple of her father’s eye and his joy knew no bounds when she informed him that she was selected as a Reliance Foundation scholar and will be awarded the scholarship. Now she aspires to be a chartered accountant guided in this decision by her father’s assessment that she had the spark to do exceptionally well in this field.

She feels that this Reliance Foundation scholarship will support her in not only completing her degree course in commerce but also help her financially in her higher studies of Chartered Accountancy. Natasha says, “It is my ambition to be successful and work towards enriching the lives of orphans and elderly people.

Reliance Foundation Scholar 2022-23 Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) Nineteen-year-old Nuzha Zubari is currently pursuing her Honours degree in Sociology from Delhi University. With only limited options for graduation in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands where she hails from, students like Nuzha often move to other parts of India for higher education.

When asked about her aim and ambitions, she says she wants to crack the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations and serve India. According to her, people residing in the islands are disadvantaged compared to their mainland counterparts and she wants to work to bridge this gap. "People on my island are a little backward compared to the mainland," she says.

"I want them to come forward and grow. I want my island to come forward in everything." Speaking about her reaction after securing the scholarships, Nuzha said, "I feel good and overwhelmed.

After my father passed away last year, this scholarship comes as a great support to my education." While Nuzha was fortunate enough to have a supportive family to access education, she faced a dilemma over continuing her studies after her father's death. That's when her family stepped in and encouraged her to continue her academic journey.
