Remainder Fund Grant Program – Oregon Special Needs Trust We are pleased to offer four unique grant opportunities for OSNT beneficiaries, members of The Arc, and others with disabilities. These grants are possible because the OSNT retains 50% of funds remaining in first-party accounts when the trust beneficiary passes away. Our goal is to use those funds to support the needs and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.
To qualify for an individual grant, applicants must: be a resident of Oregon or a current OSNT sub-account holder; experience a disability as defined by 42 U.S.C.
1382c(a); demonstrate a financial need and an inability to purchase a disability-related item or service without grant assistance; provide documentation confirming other potential funding sources have been explored, including family contributions; have not been awarded Remainder Fund Grants totaling $5,000 within the prior 12 months; and have not received more than $10,000 in remainder fund grants in their lifetime.

You will receive an email confirmation that your application has been submitted. Grant requests will be reviewed on the first Monday of each month. * If that day falls on a holiday, the review will be scheduled for that same week.
Application deadline is 5:00pm the Monday prior to the scheduled review. Requests received after the deadline will be processed the following month. Applicants will receive notice of the decision within 10 days of the review.
* Grant awards will be made payable to the vendor or service provider upon approval. *Final expense grants will be reviewed upon receipt and applicants will be notified within 24 hours of award approval or denial.
Convention/Conference Grant Convention/Conference Grant This grant is available to people with I/DD and their families to help cover the cost(s) of registration fees and/or travel expenses to attend The Arc Oregon State Convention , The Arc National Convention, the National Disability Policy Seminar , or an Oregon conference or convention with a focus on supporting and advancing the rights of people with I/DD.
The maximum Convention/Conference Grant award is $1,000 for in state and $2,000 for out of state. Disability Verification.
Acceptable forms of documentation include: SSI or SSDI benefit letter dated within 12 months prior to the grant application date First page of the person’s ISP or IEP Explanation of how expenses over and above the grant amount will be covered For a the National Convention or Disability Policy Seminar, a letter of support from the local Oregon chapter of The Arc the applicant is a member of, or other disability advocacy organization Confirmation of fees to be paid – air travel, hotel, and/or registration fees Open to any person with a disability to contribute to the cost(s) of tuition, books, and/or registration fees related to post-secondary education such as four (4) year colleges or universities, two (2) year colleges, vocational/technical schools and programs, adult education and continuing education programs, and/or Life Skills programs.
The maximum Accessibility Grant award is $1,500. Disability Verification.
Acceptable forms of documentation include: SSI or SSDI benefit letter dated within 12 months prior to the grant application date First page of the person’s ISP, IEP, BHP, or other verification of any disability services received Proof of enrollment/acceptance into school or program Explanation of how expenses over and above the grant amount will be covered Available to pay for final burial/cremation expenses for any person with a disability who has passed away.
This grant may be applied for by a family member of the beneficiary in the event the beneficiary does not have a pre-paid plan in place and the family would experience undue hardship without financial assistance. The maximum Final Expense Grant award is $6,000 .
Funeral home invoice or estimate for final expenses Explanation of how expenses over and above the grant amount will be covered Open to prospective first-party sub-account beneficiaries to pay for the legal fees incurred to get a court-approval as necessary to establish an OSNT account.
To be eligible for this grant award, the total expected deposit into the sub-account must be less than $15,000, and the beneficiary must be ineligible for or unable to establish an ABLE Account. The maximum Legal Expense Grant award is $2,500 .
