# AN OVERVIEW OF MAJOR PROGRAMS # December 2019 IDHS GRANT RESOURCE GUIDE # HOW TO USE THE IDHS GRANT RESOURCE GUIDE Public safety officials are charged with the immense task of keeping their communities safe from a variety of threats. In order to be vigilant, public safety officials and organizations should participate in planning, training, exercise, response, recovery, and mitigation activities.
In order to fund such efforts, many state, local, tribal, and territorial (SLTT) entities rely on federal and state grants. The IDHS Grant Resource Guide provides a general overview of some of the federal and state public safety grant programs available to SLTT entities. The IDHS Grant Resource Guide is intended to be used as a brief overview and as a comparison and reference document.
It is important to note that the IDHS Grant Resource Guide is an outline of the major grant programs that may be of interest to IDHS stakeholders, and it is not comprehensive of all federal and state public safety grant programs.
