Although not required, we strongly recommend this step for first-time applicants, those who have been turned down in the past, or those who are uncertain of fit and alignment with the Foundation’s interests. A letter of inquiry submitted within three weeks of a grant deadline may not be reviewed until the following grant cycle.

It is recommended that you prepare all required attachments before starting your grant application.

5 months prior to each application deadline. The first step of the application will be an eligibility quiz. If you’ve been given a green light to apply and are having trouble passing the eligibility quiz, please give us a call.
Complete the online application and upload your documents. Submit your application through the grantee portal by 5 p. m.
on either of our two annual deadline dates ( January 15 or July 1 ). If you are unable to complete the proposal in one sitting, you have the ability to save the form and return to complete it at a later time. You can access your account from the Grantee Login button at the top of this page.
We recommend you submit your application as early as possible to avoid unforeseen delays or technological difficulties that may cause you to miss our deadline. Due to the large volume of grant applications we receive, our review process takes about four months. Your application will be assigned to one of our staff members for review.
We will contact you if we have any questions, need additional information or to schedule a site visit. We will communicate the board’s decision about your proposal by mail in late-May or late-November, depending upon the grant cycle in which you’ve applied. We’re here to help!

The Homeless Youth Program is a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services that funds services for homeless and at-risk youth across Illinois.
