Rural Law Enforcement Grants Awarded Start typing a search term economy Economic Development Rural Law Enforcement Grants Awarded Senate Bill (SB) 22 establishes a grant program that provides financial assistance to supplement salaries in sheriff’s departments, constable’s offices and district and county attorney’s offices in rural areas of the state.
For the initial implementation of the program, counties were eligible to apply for grant funds in Jan. 2024, regardless of the county’s fiscal start date. For fiscal year (FY) 2024, the Comptroller’s office awarded 502 grants for a total of nearly $126 million.
For FY2025, nearly $128. 7 million was awarded for 518 grants through the program. The tables on this page show the FY24 and FY25 awarded grants from the program.
