The Fund for Innovation in Development: innovating against poverty and inequality | AFD - Agence Française de Développement The Fund for Innovation in Development: innovating against poverty and inequality The Fund for Innovation in Development (FID) finances solutions with high potential impact on tackling poverty and inequalities in low- and middle-income countries.
The Fund is backed up with a rigorous evaluation of the effectiveness of the projects and aims to accelerate their large-scale deployment. Facilitate synergies between innovation and research teams and public partners and policy makers to pilot new solutions, validate their impact and support their scaling-up. Capitalize on the results and evaluations of projects to contribute to effective policy design.
FID selects innovations financed via a Call for Proposals open all year. The projects must be located in a low- or middle-income country eligible for Official Development Assistance. The priority sectors are education, health, climate, and gender equality.
All types of organizations and collectives can apply, either independently or as part of a consortium. Applications by individuals or international organizations are not eligible. You wish to submit a project?
Call for Proposals open all year, for all types of entities and sectors Seven funding stages geared to the various levels of development of an innovation (from the preliminary phases to scaling up) There are many promising ideas, policies and programs that can reduce poverty, but we can only identify which ones actually work by rigorously testing them.
Developing on how these ideas can work at different scales and in different contexts can help us learn from experience and develop sustainable solutions that are ready to be generalized. Innovation can bring about transformation, but it is a process that requires multiple steps and flexible funding to achieve its potential.
Development Economist, Chairperson of the FID Board Preparation grant: Up to €50,000 to prepare the launch of a pilot project in real conditions or an impact evaluation Stage 1 – Implementation of a pilot project: Up to €200,000 to test an innovation in real conditions Stage 2 – Impact evaluation: Up to €1.
5 million to test and evaluate the impact of innovations for which there has already been a pilot project Stage 3 – Scaling up: Up to €4 million to support the scaling-up of innovations whose impact has been demonstrated Transformation of public policies: Up to €500,000 to develop governments’ capacity to integrate evidence-based innovations into their public policies Priority sectors: education, health, climate, and gender equality.

The United States Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs’ Office of International Visitors (ECA/PE/V) announces an open competition for up to four cooperative agreements to support the staff expenses and overhead costs of the FY 2026 International Visitor Leadership Program’s (IVLP) National Program Agencies (NPAs). Launched in 1940, the IVLP is the Department of State’s foundational professional exchange program. The IVLP advances U.S. national security priorities and builds long-term relationships between Americans and international leaders in government, business, academia, and other fields. Recipients design and implement customized short-term visits to the United States for current and emerging leaders from around the world. These visits support U.S. foreign policy goals and reflect the participants’ professional interests.
