Families First Community Grants Families First Community Grants The Families First Community Grants Application period is now open from May 28, 2026 through July 13, 2026 at 5:00 PM (Central Time) The Tennessee Department of Human Services (TDHS) is on a mission to build strong families by connecting Tennesseans to employment, education, and support services.
As an administrator of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program and related TANF Opportunity Act initiatives, we view our programs as a bridge to help families with low-income in our community gain new levels of independence and self-sufficiency.
To reach more families across the state, Tennessee non-profit organizations and entities that share our vision are invited to partner with us through the Families First Community Grant initiative. Non-profit organizations that are interested in pursuing this opportunity are encouraged to review the Families First Community Grants Application Guide in detail and follow instructions to submit an application.

The SCI Youth Grant Pitch Contest is a competitive program from Social Capital Inc. that funds youth-led community improvement projects in Greater Boston. Teams of high school students in grades 9 through 12 residing in Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, or Suffolk counties develop project ideas through coaching from local professionals, then pitch their proposals to a live panel of judges. Winning teams receive $1,000 to $2,000 in grant funding to execute their community-strengthening visions. The program builds career skills including public speaking, project management, and team collaboration, while cultivating cross-socioeconomic connections among peers and mentors throughout the region.
