Through this funding initiative, the Foundation seeks to foster meaningful connections between the Jewish community and other non-Jewish communities, promote interfaith dialogue, and provide practical solutions to complex challenges. We are committed to funding projects that focus on community-building, social impact, and addressing critical issues.
The goal of the Urban Affairs Foundation Grants is to support programs and initiatives that align with the following objectives: To build positive ties between the Jewish community and other segments of the population fostering inter-community collaboration. To fund community-building efforts that address systemic issues affecting urban environments, particularly those impacting underserved youth, families, and neighborhoods.
To support grassroots organizations that are at a crucial point for growth and development. To provide technical assistance and expert knowledge to new initiatives and groups within the community, helping them to develop sustainable, impactful programs.
Priority Areas for Funding: We invite proposals for the following types of projects: Inter-Communal Activities Minority and marginalized community programs that address issues such as poverty, drug-related violence, and other community challenges. Projects that promote the general welfare of the community through collaboration between diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic groups.
Interfaith Activities Directed Toward Community Issues Programs that encourage interfaith dialogue and cooperative efforts to address community challenges. Grassroots Community Development Projects aimed at strengthening communities, especially those focusing on vulnerable populations such as underserved youth and families, and communities affected by economic or social challenges.
Technical Assistance and Capacity Building Support for newly formed groups or organizations that need technical assistance, knowledge-sharing, and expertise to build their capacity and achieve long-term sustainability. Funding Amount : Each applicant may apply for up to $7,500 for the implementation of a specific project or initiative.
Project Implementation : Projects must be actively planned for implementation and should demonstrate clear goals, measurable outcomes, and a plan for sustainability. The purpose of the Urban Affairs Foundation, part of the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh’s Community Relations Council, is to promote the involvement of Jewish organizations and individuals in broader community concerns.
The Community Relations Council engages in public policy activities to promote harmonious relations and mutual understanding within and beyond the Jewish community.
