Proposers must be able to obtain appropriate security clearances. Applicants should confirm final requirements in the official notice before submission.
Current published award information indicates Funding amounts vary by project scope and phase. Typical SOCOM BAA awards range from $100,000 for exploratory white papers to $5,000,000 or more for full prototype development efforts. The BAA supports projects across multiple phases from concept development through prototype demonstration. Always verify allowable costs, matching requirements, and funding caps directly in the sponsor documentation.
The current target date is December 31, 2030. Build your timeline backwards from this date to cover registrations, approvals, attachments, and final submission checks.
Federal grant success rates typically range from 10-30%, varying by agency and program. Build a strong proposal with clear objectives, measurable outcomes, and a well-justified budget to improve your chances.
Requirements vary by sponsor, but typically include a project narrative, budget justification, organizational capability statement, and key personnel CVs. Check the official notice for the complete list of required attachments.
Yes — AI tools like Granted can help research funders, draft proposal sections, and check compliance. However, always review and customize AI-generated content to reflect your organization's unique strengths and the specific requirements of the solicitation.
Review timelines vary by funder. Federal agencies typically take 3-6 months from submission to award notification. Foundation grants may be faster, often 1-3 months. Check the program's timeline in the official solicitation for specific dates.
Many federal programs offer multi-year funding or allow competitive renewals. Check the official solicitation for continuation and renewal policies. Non-competing continuation applications are common for multi-year awards.
The U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Engage SOF (eSOF) program is a rolling submission opportunity connecting commercial technologies to special operations forces needs across AI, ISR, cyber, mobility, medical, and advanced technology domains. The program accepts submissions on a rolling basis through December 31, 2026, with multiple non-dilutive funding pathways. USSOCOM recently expanded its Advanced Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence focus area, seeking modular and open integration of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions to enable enhanced autonomy in unmanned systems. Specific areas of interest include agentic AI and vision language action (VLA) models for sophisticated autonomous behaviors including adaptive learning; neural radiance fields (NeRFs) for 3D scene representation and navigation; generative AI for simulation and data augmentation; advanced automatic target recognition (ATR) algorithms with edge node refinement and autonomous model retraining; and human-machine interface solutions. The program supports solutions across 13 capability areas: Aviation Systems, Biometrics and Forensics, C4, Cyberspace Operations, Human Performance and Human Machine Interface, Information Operations, ISR, Irregular Warfare, Medical, Mobility, Power and Energy, Soldier Systems, and Weapons and Electronic Attack. Award pathways include contracts, OTAs, SBIR/STTR, CRADAs, or prize competitions. All submissions must be unclassified.
The U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) Broad Agency Announcement USSOCOM-BAAST-2020, updated in July 2025, is a long-running open BAA accepting white papers on a rolling basis through December 31, 2030. A major 2025 amendment added a dedicated subsection for Advanced Autonomy and Artificial Intelligence, reflecting SOF's strategic priority to become early adopters of AI technologies as articulated in the SOF Renaissance strategic vision. The AI/autonomy subsection emphasizes modular, open integration of cutting-edge solutions and specifically seeks proposals addressing agentic AI and vision language action (VLA) models for sophisticated autonomous behaviors with adaptive learning, neural radiance fields (NeRFs) for 3D scene representation and navigation, generative AI for simulation and data augmentation, advanced automatic target recognition (ATR) algorithms with edge refinement, and machine learning operations (MLOps) for data management and model monitoring. Solutions must feature well-defined interfaces adhering to open standards to ensure interoperability with existing military architectures. The BAA also covers collaborative autonomy for multiple autonomous or remote-controlled systems sharing data in real-time, equipping small autonomous platforms including drones, ground robots, and uncrewed surface and underwater vessels with ISR and edge computing capabilities. SOFWERX, a military capabilities nonprofit partnering with SOCOM, hosts regular assessment events for selected participants to pitch and demonstrate solutions.
The OCRP Outcomes Consortium Development Award supports a multi-institutional research effort conducted by leading ovarian cancer researchers and consumer advocates that specifically focuses on identifying and understanding predictors of disease outcomes in ovarian cancer patients. This effort will be executed through a two-stage approach using two separate award mechanisms: this FY12 Outcomes Consortium Development Award, which will enable the consortium to lay the groundwork for the research project, including proof of concept, and the FY14 Outcomes Consortium Award, which will support the execution of the full research project. Funding Opportunity Number: W81XWH-12-OCRP-OCDA. Assistance Listing: 12.420. Funding Instrument: CA,G. Category: ST. Award Amount: $1.3M total program funding.
SBIR/STTR Programs is sponsored by Defense Health Agency (DHA). The DHA SBIR and STTR programs support U.S. small businesses in developing high-risk, high-impact medical materiel technologies with potential for wider commercialization, including those that could leverage AI for warfighter health and survival.
