Vibrant Communities Mental Health Grant Program Now Open New Regional and Local Funding Tracks Support Mental Health Across the St. Croix Valley Now in its sixth year, the grant program continues to respond to one of the Valley’s most pressing challenges. Since launching in 2021, the Foundation and its affiliate partners have invested more than $800,000 in nonprofit organizations strengthening mental health across the region.
In 2026, the Foundation refined grant program guidelines to more clearly distinguish between regional mental health providers and local, connection-focused initiatives. “Throughout our six-county region, nonprofits are stepping up in inspiring ways to prioritize mental health and well-being — building a stronger and more connected Valley,” said Angie Pilgrim, Vice President of Community Impact at the St. Croix Valley Foundation.
“This year, we listened closely to our nonprofit and affiliate partners and refined our grant program to better support both regional mental health organizations, and local programs that foster connection and belonging—directing more resources where they will make the greatest impact.
” Regional Mental Health Grants (up to $10,000) For organizations serving multiple communities across the Foundation’s six-county region where mental health is central to their mission. Funding may be used for general operating or program support.
Building Community Connections Grants (amounts vary) For local programs serving at least one of the Foundation’s nine affiliate communities that promote mental wellbeing by fostering connection, belonging, and engagement. Mental health does not need to be the organization’s primary mission, but funded programs must clearly support community wellbeing.
The participating affiliate communities include: Amery Area, Chisago Lakes Area, Hudson, Lower St. Croix Valley, New Richmond Area, Northwest Alliance, River Falls, Somerset, and Stillwater Area. Organizations may submit only one application.
