Living the Golden Rule - The Worthington Companies Foundation The Worthington Companies Foundation, formerly known as the Worthington Industries Foundation, exists to support worthwhile community causes in the areas where we live and work. In fiscal year 2025, the Foundation contributed $3. 1M to 73 organizations in our focus areas of Health, Human Services, Youth & Education and Civic Causes.
Funded by Worthington Enterprises and Worthington Steel , the two public companies formed by the December 2023 split of the former Worthington Industries, the Foundation’s community efforts now have the power of two companies behind it. The Worthington Companies Foundation is a donor advised fund of The Columbus Foundation.

We’re honored to partner with Community Shelter Board (CSB), an organization working to address homelessness with an empathetic, holistic approach. In 2023, our $125,000 donation helped underwrite housing programs for families and single adults in Columbus and Franklin County, Ohio, serving 14,961 people this year, including 4,906 children.
The Ronald McDonald House The Worthington Companies Foundation supports organizations focused on children’s healthcare through donations to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation and The Ronald McDonald House located across the street. As part of a $250,000 multi-year pledge to the Ronald McDonald House, we donated $100,000 in 2023, funding the addition of 80 guest rooms, which will serve an additional 2,000 families annually.
The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland Empowering youth in our communities means creating opportunities to learn and grow, especially in STEM fields where less than one in five women hold leadership roles. To help address this underrepresentation, we partnered with The Girl Scouts of Ohio’s Heartland to support their Dream Big Transformational Initiative.
A $100,000 multi-year donation helped turn their 220-acre camp into a STEM Leadership Center and Makers Space that opened in 2025. The campus provides hands-on learning through science and technology labs, trade skills training and outdoor learning spaces and programs. As a shared community resource, the project is empowering Ohio’s up-and-coming generation of women to pursue in-demand STEM careers and leadership.
For over 40 years, we have supported the Columbus Zoo’s educational programming and wildlife conservation in an effort to build better communities where our employees live and work. Last year, the Foundation donated $300,000 toward a $1.
5 million multi-year commitment to the Columbus Zoo’s Connecting People & Wildlife campaign, making the Zoo’s educational programming more accessible to the entire community and supporting wildlife conservation in Ohio and around the globe. Your Mission, Our Support We review grant requests twice a year: those received by May 1 will be notified in July, and grant requests received by October 1 will be notified in December.
The Worthington Companies Foundation accepts requests from nonprofit organizations with an IRS tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) and organizations in the local communities where we operate, with the majority of our financial support targeted in central Ohio.
We are unable to support individuals, religious organizations, ethnic organizations, labor groups, fraternal organizations or any request seeking financial support for debt retirement. We receive a very high volume of requests and, therefore, only a small percentage of requests are funded.

The Homeless Youth Program is a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services that funds services for homeless and at-risk youth across Illinois. Administered through the Office of Community and Positive Youth Development, it supports nonprofit organizations delivering shelter, outreach, and support services to young people experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Eligible applicants are Illinois-based nonprofits with demonstrated capacity to serve youth. Awards range from $100,000 to $800,000 per year under CSFA number 444-80-0711. Community Investment Tax Credit Program (CITC) is a grant from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development that provides state tax credit allocations to 501(c)(3) nonprofits, enabling them to attract private donations from individuals and businesses. Donors contributing $500 or more to approved projects receive tax credits equal to 50% of their contribution. The program has leveraged nearly $27 million in charitable contributions to approximately 700 projects statewide. Eligible project areas include education, housing, job training, arts and culture, economic development, and services for at-risk populations. Projects must be located in or serve residents of Maryland's Priority Funding Areas. The application period is typically held annually.
