Youth Philanthropy | Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin Youth Philanthropy Maggie DeLoye 2025-05-30T16:26:26+00:00 Youth Philanthropy Leadership Program Teaching the art, science, and business of philanthropy to the next generation. Youth Philanthropy helps shape students to recognize opportunities to proactively address felt needs and service gaps in the community.
Students not only learn how foundations support the work of local nonprofits, but they also get to put philanthropy into practice. Guided by mentors, the students develop skills in donor solicitation, communications, and marketing with individual donors, foundation program officers, and business executives.
With a set budget, the students work together to award grants to deserving nonprofits that fit their objectives, experiencing the good of generosity up close. Our youth philanthropy mentors represent leaders in the community who already engage in local nonprofit organization leadership, philanthropy, volunteerism or civic affairs.
Mentors present the program content, provide direction, facilitate discussion, promote teamwork and coordinate activities throughout the program experience. Not only does program involvement look great on college and job applications, but you’ll also connect with like-minded students from across the area and together learn about the nonprofit sector and how philanthropy helps communities like ours flourish. The Homeless Youth Program is a grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services that funds services for homeless and at-risk youth across Illinois.
