The purpose of this Teaming Partner List announcement is to facilitate the formation of new project teams to respond to the potential NOFO. Any potential NOFO issued in the future would provide specific program goals, technical metrics, and selection criteria. If there are any inconsistencies between this announcement and the potential NOFO, the NOFO language would be controlling.
This potential funding opportunity would aim to support the development of transuranic (TRU) fuels that use a largely untapped domestic fissile resource found across U.S. inventories. TRU fuels offer a path to expanding the nation’s nuclear fuel supply while reducing the volume of radioactive waste.
Economically viable TRU fuels will strengthen U.S. energy security, reduce reliance on foreign sources, and support long-term deployment of new nuclear power plants. This potential program would fund coordinated efforts spanning fuel design, fabrication, testing, modeling, and qualification, along with analysis of cost, impact, and deployment pathways.
It is anticipated that technologies developed under this potential program will have the ability to enable: A domestic TRU fuel supply chain; A levelized cost of fuel (LCOF) ≤ 1¢/kWh; and TRU fuel qualification and regulatory acceptance within seven years. ARPA-E strongly encourages outstanding scientists and engineers from different organizations, scientific disciplines, and technology sectors to form new project teams.
Interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration spanning organizational boundaries enables and accelerates scientific and technological outcomes that were previously viewed as extremely difficult, if not impossible, to achieve. The Teaming Partner List is being compiled to facilitate the formation of new project teams. The Teaming Partner List will be available on ARPA-E eXCHANGE (http://arpa-e-foa.

RFI-0000095: Announcement of Teaming List: Advanced Stimulation and Enhanced Recovery Technologies The Advanced Research Projects Agency — Energy (ARPA-E) is considering issuing a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to catalyze transformative breakthroughs in domestic energy and critical minerals extraction.
This initiative aims to achieve step-change improvements by developing and field-validating integrated stimulation and enhanced recovery technologies for low-permeability subsurface formations, reducing both costs and wastewater generation. This Teaming Partner List announcement facilitates the formation of new project teams to respond to the potential NOFO.
Any NOFO issued in the future would provide specific program goals, technical metrics, and selection criteria. If there are any inconsistencies between this announcement and the potential NOFO, the NOFO language would be controlling.
This potential NOFO aims to address persistent technical barriers that impede efficient recovery from diverse low-permeability subsurface resources, including unconventional oil and gas, geothermal energy, and mineral systems.
The program’s goal is to double the per-well recovery efficiency (or recovery factors) of energy and critical minerals from low-permeability formations, while maintaining or reducing both per-unit cost and wastewater volumes relative to state-of-the-art.
Achieving this goal requires innovative approaches to stimulation and enhanced recovery processes supported by rigorous laboratory experiments, numerical modeling, and downhole monitoring. After successful laboratory proof-of-concept, technologies would undergo field validation to ensure a practical path to real-world deployment.
Applicants can choose from one of two categories: Category A (Shale and Tight Oil & Gas) and Category B (Other Low-Permeability Subsurface Resources). ARPA-E anticipates that Category A will comprise the majority of projects selected under this potential program.
Success will not only revolutionize subsurface resource recovery but also contribute to ARPA-E’s goals of reducing foreign energy imports and enhancing energy infrastructure resilience.
Expertise in the following areas may be useful in responding to a potential NOFO: Reservoir, Petroleum, and/or Mining Engineering Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, and Material Science Numerical Modeling and Data Science Sensors and Instrumentation Commercial Deployment (e.g., oil and gas companies, geothermal developers, mining firms with access to field sites, permitting experience) ARPA-E strongly encourages outstanding scientists and engineers from different organizations, scientific disciplines, and technology sectors to form new project teams.

Concept Paper Submission Deadline: 9/24/2025 9:30 AM ET Full Application Submission Deadline: 12/1/2025 9:30 AM ET View Full Application Reviewer Comments Period: 12/17/2025 4:44 PM ET – 12/19/2025 5:00 PM ET DE-FOA-0003591: Magnetic Acceleration Generating New Innovations and Tactical Outcomes SBIR/STTR (MAGNITO SBIR/STTR) Encourage/Discourage notification letters were released and the Full Application NOFO was posted October 29, 2025.
The objective of the Magnetic Acceleration Generating New Innovations and Tactical Outcomes SBIR/STTR (MAGNITO SBIR/STTR) program is to support the discovery, synthesis, and characterization of new, more powerful magnets with either a saturation magnetization or maximum energy product higher than that of any known material. This entails finding entirely new physics, chemistries, and structure for ultra-powerful soft and/or hard magnets.
The discovery of Nd2Fe14B, with its complex structural chemistry and extraordinary properties, suggests that other complex magnetic materials with three or more distinct elements, and similar chemical and structural features, are waiting to be discovered.
Advances in computational physics that can calculate Bsat, magneto-crystalline anisotropy, and Curie temperature (Tc), as well as computational materials discovery using high-throughput techniques, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), are needed to reveal new materials structures not previously examined and at a pace faster than ever before.
To achieve effective materials discovery, ARPA-E anticipates successful applicants will comprise teams with various expertise such as: Computational materials discovery, e.g., high-throughput computation, AI/ML, generation of new structures, thermodynamic stability models, and phase diagrams; Solid state chemistry, high-throughput synthesis and characterization of new phases, including (but not limited to) specialized ability in subnitrides, high temperature borides, and carbides; Magnetism physics and computational methods; Magnetic measurement and interpretation of data, including hysteresis curves; high-throughput autonomous laboratories; and Potential applications of ultra-powerful magnets.
