Funding Agencies and Opportunities in the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Aaron Copland Fund for Music The Aaron Copland Fund supports contemporary American music. It has three grant awards with distinct goals and deadlines. The Alexia Foundation “supports photographers as agents for change” by “promoting the power of photojournalism to give voice to social injustice.

” It offers grants and scholarships. Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalization Hosts Visiting Scholars at Deakin University in Victoria, Australia. Applying scholars should have interests aligned with ADI’s focus on addressing social, political, economic, and cultural inequalities and human rights.

Alfred P. Sloan Foundation The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation funds initiatives “to further understanding of the forces of nature and society with the goal of affecting a better world.

” It does so by supporting work in basic research, education initiatives, digital technologies, economic and quality of life research, and other cross-disciplinary fields. Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation This foundation awards need-based scholarships to currently-enrolled undergraduate and graduate students studying humanities, social sciences, journalism, health, and education.

Offers a Visiting Scholar and Artist Program, the Rome Prize for an emerging scholar, and a host of fellowships for study “at the source of our Western humanistic heritage.

” American Academy of Arts and Sciences October for Visiting Scholars Program, January for Policy Fellowships Opportunities include a one-year postdoctoral Visiting Scholars Fellowship program in the humanities and social sciences at the Academy in Cambridge, Massachusetts, as well as Policy Fellowships for early career higher education professionals interested in pursuing a career in public policy.

The American Academy in Berlin The Berlin Prize allows PhD or equivalent level scholars to study at the American Academy in Berlin for an academic semester. Applicants should explain how residency in Berlin will benefit their independent project.

American Antiquarian Society Offers short-term fellowships (1-3 months) and long-term fellowships (4-12 months) to support residential research on “the life of America's people from the colonial era through the Civil War and Reconstruction. ” All fellowships enable academic scholars and advanced graduate students to spend an uninterrupted block of time doing research in the AAS library.

American Association of University Women Offers fellowships to support women scholars who are writing dissertations or completing research at accredited institutions. Both American Fellowships for US citizens and residents and International Fellowships for non-US citizens are available. American Council of Learned Societies September & varying dates ACLS accepts applications from all disciplines of the humanities and social sciences.

Fellowships support scholars so that they can dedicate 6-12 months to a major piece of scholarly work. ACLS funds many fellowships in specific fields as well, such as Buddhist Studies and the History of Art. American Councils for International Education American Councils administers several major grants for independent, overseas research in the humanities and social sciences as well as language training.

Recently, American Councils scholars have conducted research in countries like Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, and Ukraine. American Historical Association The American Historical Association awards a number of grants, fellowships, and prizes annually in support of the study of history. Some applications require membership in AHA, but many do not.

American Historical Association, J. Franklin Jameson Fellowship in American History Jameson Fellows spend 2-3 months at the Library of Congress for American history research. Applicants must be no more than seven years beyond receipt of the Ph.

D. American India Foundation, William J. Clinton Fellowship for Service in India This fellowship is for a ten-month service and fieldwork experience for undergraduate seniors and graduate students interested in learning about international development through participation in AIF’s projects.

The fellowship provides travel expenses and a living stipend. American Philosophical Society The Society offers research grants, dissertation fellowships, and library and museum fellowships. American Psychological Foundation APF supports research that “uses psychology to solve social problems.

” Postdoctoral fellowships, internships, grants, and graduate student scholarships are offered. American Research Center in Egypt Several fellowships for predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars, faculty, and senior scholars are available for travel and study in Egypt.

Eligible fields of study are: Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Art and Art History, Coptic Studies, Economics, Egyptology, History, Humanistic Social Sciences, Islamic Studies, Literature, Political Science, and Religious Studies.

American Scandinavian Foundation ASF offers fellowships and grants to students, professionals, and artists who have already completed a bachelor’s degree to pursue research or study in one or more Scandinavian country for up to one year. Awards are made in all fields. ASF also hosts an annual Translation Competition.

The American School of Classical Studies at Athens Offers Kress Publication Fellowships for senior scholars working on a publication assignment from Corinth, Agora, Lerna, or from an affiliated project of the School. American Society for Theatre Research Offers awards, grants, fellowships, and prizes to support scholarship in theater and performing arts studies.

The American University in Cairo: Presidential Internship Program Provides recent university graduates an opportunity to live in Cairo and learn Arabic for one year while working within an international university. Amherst Center for Humanistic Inquiry Amherst’s CHI invites several faculty fellows into residence each year to engage with an annual theme.

Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts The Warhol Foundation offers grants and awards in support of the visual arts. Arizona State University, Institute for Humanities Research The IHR has a Visiting Humanities Investigator (VHI) Grants program to encourage collaboration between ASU humanities faculty and other faculty and artists. ASU tenure-line faculty can apply to invite a collaborator for a micro-residency at ASU.

The Institute also offers an annual Transdisciplinary Book Award for a nonfiction work that represents the best of humanities scholarship; the award is offered to a member of an external faculty every other year (applications due in January). ACC provides grants and fellowships to support research, travel, and cultural exchange between the U.S. and the countries of Asia.

Auburn University, Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities Auburn’s Draughon Center supports an endowed Breeden Eminent Scholar to visit the university annually. Persons named to the Breeden Eminent Chair must be nationally recognized in the arts or humanities.

Bard College, Bard Graduate Center Fellowships must address an annual question and are intended for those who have secured funding to join Bard’s scholarly community in New York City for up to a year. Disciplines include but are not limited to art history, architecture and design history, economic and cultural history, history of technology, philosophy, anthropology, and archaeology.

Bard College, Hannah Arendt Center The Hannah Arendt Center hosts Visiting Scholars for up to a year, giving them access to the Hannah Arendt archives and the Stevenson Library. The Center also offers annual Postdoctoral Fellowships (applications due in March).

An American nonprofit with a program in Italy, the Bogliasco Foundation awards one-month Fellowships to individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts and humanities. Fellows live and work on the property on the coast near Genoa.

The Foundation welcomes applications twice a year from individuals doing creative or scholarly work in the following disciplines: archaeology, architecture, classics, dance, film/video, history, landscape architecture, literature, music, philosophy, theater, and visual arts. January (Fellowship), February (Scholarship) Boren Scholarships allow undergraduates to spend up to six months studying in world regions critical to U.S. interests.

Boren Fellowships allow U.S. graduate students to learn a language relevant to their scholarship. These awards have a government service requirement after completion. Boston University Center for the Humanities Offers support for short-term visiting faculty, especially seeking those whose work is of interest to more than one department at Boston University.

Brigham Young University, Charles Redd Center for Western Studies The Charles Redd Center for the American West at BYU hosts Visiting Fellows and awards research, interdisciplinary research, and publication awards for scholars pursuing projects that deal with the Intermountain West.

British Academy for Humanities and Social Sciences The British Academy supports international scholars at any career stage and in any discipline within the humanities and the social sciences who wish to work within a UK higher education or other research institution of their choice for up to six months. Visiting Fellows will work with British colleagues to develop and deepen research partnerships.

Brown University, Cogut Institute for the Humanities The Cogut Institute at Brown offers Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships in the humanities and Postdoctoral Fellowships in International Humanities. Brown University, George and Eliza Gardner Howard Foundation This foundation offers one-year fellowships designed for mid-career artists, scholars, and writers to complete their work. Fellowships are offered in a five-year sequence of fields.

Cambridge offers three-year fellowships open to graduates of any University who have recently completed their doctorate or are close to completion. The fellowships are offered through Churchill College, Fitzwilliam College, Murray Edwards College, Selwyn College, and Trinity Hall. Cambridge University, Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities Offers several fellowship opportunities for visiting scholars.

Cambridge University, Munby Fellowship in Bibliography A ten-month fellowship that is based on research using the collection at Cambridge library or that serves scholars using the collection in the future.

Chiang-Ching Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange This foundation supports scholars in the humanities and social sciences at academic institutions throughout the world who undertake research projects that can “shed new light on Chinese culture and society.

” City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission The City of Reno awards one-time program grants to organizations (not individuals) for events that are held within Reno’s city limits and are free and open to the public. Applicants must attend a mandatory grant workshop held in November to be eligible. Columbia Society of Fellows Offers three-year postdoctoral fellowships in the humanities.

Columbia University, Heyman Center for the Humanities The Edward W. Said Fellowship supports early career scholars for a period of residency at Columbia University for work on a project that “engages with the legacy of Edward Said. ” Applicants should apply their academic scholarship to “pressing issues in the public sphere.

” Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals CBYX is a yearlong fellowship for 75 Americans ages 18-24 to live, study, and work in Germany, funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Congress through the U.S. Department of State. The program consists of two months of German language school, four months of classes, and a five-month internship in the applicant’s career field.

Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes This global forum strengthens the work of humanities centers and institutes and supports initiatives such as collaborative research projects, global workshops, and fellowships for scholars. Council of American Overseas Research Centers The program supports “advanced trans-regional research” in the humanities, social sciences, or related natural sciences.

Open to U.S. citizens, and applicants are eligible to apply as individuals or in teams. Scholars must carry out research in two or more countries outside the United States, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center.

Cornell Society of Humanities Offers one-year Society and Sustainability Fellowships based on an annual theme as well as two-year postdoctoral Mellon Fellowships in English and History of Art. Council on Library and Information Resources Offers awards and fellowships for postdoctoral scholars, dissertation research, and students of library science.

Creative Capital provides advising and financing to artists pursuing “adventurous projects” in Emerging Fields, Film/Video, Literature, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. Letters of Inquiry are due by the end of February. Critical Language Scholarships A State Department program that funds group-based intensive language instruction and cultural enrichment for 7-10 weeks in selected countries.

U.S. citizen undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD students are eligible. Cultural Vistas Fellowship The Cultural Vistas Fellowship grants underrepresented U.S. undergraduate students eight-week summer internships in Argentina, Germany, and India. Dartmouth College Leslie Center for the Humanities The center offers two Mellon Fellowships in the humanities.

It also offers external postdoctoral scholars an opportunity to collaborate as junior fellows on Humanities Research Grant projects proposed by Dartmouth faculty. Dartmouth Society of Fellows Offers three-year postdoctoral fellowships. The Dedalus Foundation seeks a greater public understanding of modern art.

Its grants, fellowships, and award programs prioritize “arts education, research and publications, archives and conservation, and exhibitions and other curatorial projects. ” Waiting for 5th round funding A grant program sponsored by several leading research funders from around the world.

It has offered four rounds of funding since 2011 aimed at addressing how “big data” changes the research landscape for humanities and the social sciences. Duke often offers two Thompson Writing Program fellowships for academics with a PhD to access their interests and disciplinary training to create a unique Academic Writing course.

Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection Awards Senior and Junior Fellowships to Byzantine, Garden and Landscape, and Pre-Columbian scholars for study in residence at this research library in the Washington, D. C. area.

Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program This fellowship is a social justice program that places fellows with community organizations that fight hunger and poverty and with policy-makers in Washington, D. C. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree.

Emory University, James Weldon Johnson Institute Offers a Visiting Fellows Program for new PhDs, faculty members, and independent scholars with an impressive background in research and undergraduate or graduate teaching in the humanities; supports interdisciplinary research that addresses race and civil and human rights.

A one-year program for those with a bachelor’s degree to share knowledge and the English language with teachers and students in a Korean public school. Folger Shakespeare Library Research fellowships provide access to the Library's collections. Short-term (1-3 months) and long-term (6-9 months) fellowships are available.

Some short-term fellowships do not require a PhD. The Ford Foundation “promotes equality in the United States, Mexico and Central America, and the Middle East and North Africa. ” Its grants database is organized by its major focus areas: civic engagement, creativity and free expression, equitable development, gender/racial/ethnic justice, inclusive economies, internet freedom, and youth opportunity.

The program is designed to support undergraduates with demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. Students must work with their home university’s study abroad office to pursue this opportunity. Fred W.

Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington Awards short-term and long-term funded residential research fellowships to applicants whose research focuses on “the life, leadership, and legacy of George Washington and early American history. ” The Library is located 16 miles south of Washington, D. C.

at Mount Vernon. A program sponsored by the U.S. State Department that offers fellowships for study, research, and teaching abroad. Fulbright U.K. Summer Institutes A month-long program for undergraduates with several years left of undergraduate study.

Award recipients experience the UK’s culture while studying and living at a British university. Fulbright U.S. Student Program Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree but not a PhD when they apply. Awards available include Open Study/Research Awards, English Teaching Assistant Grants in classrooms abroad, and opportunities for those studying music culture and storytelling across cultures.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship Students applying for a full-time, residential postgraduate degree (PhD or Master’s) at Cambridge may apply for this scholarship. German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Provides multiple opportunities for study and research in Germany for undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and faculty.

Offers Getty Scholar Grants for established scholars and writers as well as Pre- and Postdoctoral Fellowships for emerging scholars who are working on projects related to the Getty’s annual theme. The Institute’s grant initiatives aim to “strengthen art history as a global discipline, advance conservation practice, and support current and future leaders in the visual arts.

” Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History Offers short-term research fellowships to doctoral candidates, postdoctoral scholars, and college and university faculty at every rank working in American history. Fellows conduct research within the archives of any institution in the five boroughs of New York City.

The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation The foundation offers grants for institutions for library projects and the performing arts, and for individuals it offers the Venetian research grants for one-year projects. The foundation is part of the legacy of visual artist Adolph Gottlieb and is designed to benefit “mature, creative painters and sculptors.

” Applications for Individual Support grants are due annually in December, with applications for emergency funding accepted year-round. The Graham Foundation provides project-based grants to individuals and organizations who are developing new ideas about architecture’s role in the arts, culture, and society.

April for grants, November for residencies The Harpo Foundation’s mission is to support emerging visual artists – see their website for their definition of an “emerging artist. ” They offer both grants and month-long residencies at art institutes in Vermont and Santa Fe. Harvard Society of Fellows Offers about 12 three-year postdoctoral fellowships per year.

Fellows are free to pursue independent scholarship during the whole period. Harvard University, Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs The Belfer Center offers fellowships for political scientists, lawyers, economists, those in the natural sciences, and others of diverse disciplinary backgrounds. The prestige of the Belfer Center makes this opportunity appropriate for faculty as well as postdoctoral scholars.

Fellows are expected to complete a significant publication during residence. Harvard University, Mahindra Humanities Center Offers one-year postdoctoral fellowships related to the Center’s annual seminar topic – current topic is “migration and the humanities. ” This opportunity may also be appropriate for early-career faculty members.

Haverford College, Hurford Center for the Arts and Humanities Haverford hosts two Mellon fellows each year. Applicants must possess a PhD. Hiett Prize in the Humanities Each year, the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture identifies one notable early-to-mid career scholar, recognizing his or her achievements to date and his or her promise for the future.

The recognition comes with a cash award of $50,000 to assist the scholar’s ongoing work. History of Science Society The Society’s webpage provides links to a number of prizes, grants, and fellowships for scholars interested in the history of science and its cultural impact.

Horowitz Foundation for Social Policy Offers grants to current PhDs who are working on a dissertation that addresses contemporary issues in the social sciences. Humanity in Action Fellowship The fellowship assembles a group of university students and recent graduates for 4-5 weeks each summer to “explore national histories of discrimination and resistance.

” The Humboldt Foundation has research fellowships and research awards for world experts, established scholars, and postdoctoral researchers in any field of the humanities or sciences. These fellowships fund research stays in Germany. Offers one-year fellowships for conducting advanced humanities research using the collections at the Huntingdon Library.

Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities IPRH offers Mellon Postdoctoral Fellowships for external scholars.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers History Center The IEEE Life Members’ Fellowship in Electrical History supports either one year of full-time graduate work in the history of electrical science and technology, or up to one year of postdoctoral research for a scholar in this field who has received their Ph. D. within the past three years.

Institute of International Education (IIE) Administers hundreds of scholarship and fellowship programs for scholars, students, and teachers to travel, study, and teach internationally. The Fulbright is its flagship program, but it offers many other opportunities.

Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation, University of California San Diego Funds are available for postdoctoral scholars and graduate students for completing research on security, environmental, and economic policy. Institute of Museum and Library Services IMLS is the primary source of federal support for the nation’s libraries and collections.

Many grants are offered for institutions and some grants to individuals are available. James Madison Graduate Fellowships Offers fellowships to individuals working to become outstanding secondary school teachers of the American Constitution. Fellowship applicants compete only against other applicants from the states of their legal residence.

As funding permits, the Foundation plans to offer one fellowship per state per year. Japan Exchange and Teaching Program A program for those with a bachelor’s degree to teach in Japan and experience Japanese culture. Japan Foundation Fellowship Offers up to a year of support for conducting research in Japan.

John Templeton Foundation The John Templeton Foundation funds several core areas in the humanities and social sciences – all focused on “creative approaches to knowledge making. ” These areas include individual freedom and free markets, exceptional cognitive talent and genius, and science and the “big questions.

” John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Offers a year of funding for advanced professionals with a significant record of publication and scholarship to pursue independent projects. John W. Kluge Center at the Library of Congress The Center welcomes senior scholars for residency as chair holders or distinguished visiting scholars.

It also accommodates postdoctoral Fellows pursuing research in the Library’s collections, usually for periods from 6-12 months. The Kluge Center seeks scholars who will engage in dialogue with the public and with leaders in Washington. King’s College London The Faculty of Arts and Humanities welcomes Visiting Scholars in nearly every department.

Interested applicants should contact the department of interest. Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program The program gives full funding for graduate studies at Stanford to 100 excellent students from around the world who have proven their aptitude for leadership and commitment to public service. Advanced doctoral students and established scientists working on research in human origins are eligible for Leakey Foundation Research Grants.

Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award A scholarship award available to undergraduates and graduate students studying journalism. Applicants must also demonstrate “an awareness of the issues facing the LGBTQ community and a commitment to fair coverage.

” Loeb Classical Library Foundation, Harvard University The Loeb Classical Library Foundation awards fellowships to qualified scholars to support research and publication in classical studies. Applicants must have faculty or faculty emeritus status at a college or university at the time of application and during the entire time covered by the fellowship.

Mandel Scholion Interdisciplinary Research Center The center, located at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, offers postdoctoral fellowships and research groups in the humanities and Jewish studies. Marshall Scholarships finance 40 young Americans each year to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom.

Mellon Foundation supports the arts and humanities in four core program areas: Arts and Culture, Higher Learning, Humanities in Place, and Public Knowledge. Michigan Society of Fellows Offers three-year postdoctoral fellowships in Ann Arbor, MI as well as fellowships in partnership with Tsinghua University in China. Seeks to familiarize future American leaders with the culture of Ireland.

Mitchell Scholars are selected for their intellectual achievement, leadership, and a commitment to public service. Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree. National Academies, Ford Foundation Fellowships Awards will be made to individuals who “show promise of future achievement as scholars and teachers and are well prepared to use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.

” Only U.S. citizens or nationals are eligible to apply. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Fellowships in Aerospace History NASA provides funding to the History of Science Society, American Historical Association, and the Society for the History of Technology and allows each organization to review pooled applications and award one fellowship each.

The fellowship is aimed at helping early career faculty and recent PhDs complete research in any aspect of aerospace history, including “cultural and intellectual history, economic history, history of law and public policy, and the history of science, engineering, and management. ” National Art Education Association Offers NAEA grants for research in arts education and opportunities to participate in arts delegations abroad.

National Endowment for the Arts Funds translation projects and creative writing fellowships with awards of up to $25,000. National Endowment for the Humanities Offers Summer Stipends (due in September), Collaborative Grants (due in December), Fellowships (due in April), and funding for Translation and Digital Humanities initiatives to support scholars in humanities research that is of value to fellow scholars or general audiences.

Individuals currently enrolled in a degree-granting program are not eligible to apply. National Humanities Center A private non-profit located in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Typically offers 40 residential fellowships a year to support advanced study in all areas of the humanities and social sciences.

Also offers Burkhardt Fellowships for recently tenured faculty. National Institute of Justice NIJ funds physical and social science research related to criminal justice. The focus of the solicitations varies from year to year based on funding and research priorities.

National Science Foundation: Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) The SBE supports basic research focusing on human behavior and social organizations. Offers 12-month Artist Fellowship grants to visual artists (in odd calendar years) and literary and performing artists (in even calendar years). Applicants cannot be enrolled in a degree program.

Nevada Humanities makes grants to institutions (not individuals) to support humanities projects and programs that “promote community. ” Awards allow researchers to use the collections in Chicago for short-term fellowships (1-2 months) and long-term fellowships (4-12 months). Faculty and postdoctoral scholars are eligible for these awards.

NYPL offers many fellowships for scholars, writers, and historians that give researchers access to the library’s extensive collections and archives.

North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain The program allows US and Canadian students and graduates majoring in any subject who are native speakers of English or French the opportunity to work with foreign language teachers in schools in Spain, live in Spain, and learn about Spanish culture. Northeastern University Humanities Center Offers one-year faculty fellowships in various fields within the humanities.

Northwestern University, Alice Kaplan Center for the Humanities Offers various grants and fellowships. Current offerings include a fellowship in the digital humanities. Notre Dame, Institute for Advanced Study Offers Graduate Student Fellowships and Resident Fellowships for scholars established within their fields, both of up to a year in duration.

Research interests should pertain to “ultimate questions and questions of value. ” Omohundro Institute for Early American Studies at William & Mary The Omohundro Institute is a well-known leader in Early American scholarship. It supports research through varied fellowships at all levels of scholarship.

Applicants’ work should relate to the history and cultures of North America from 1450 to 1820 or related developments in Africa, the British Isles, the Caribbean, Europe, and Latin America. Offers funding for graduate studies at Central European University in Budapest.

Also offers Soros Equality Fellowships for work related to racial justice and Soros Justice Fellowships for work related to issues facing the U.S. criminal justice system. Overseas Press Club Foundation Graduate and undergraduate students at American universities who are studying to become foreign correspondents are invited to apply for the 16 scholarships and fellowships awarded each year.

Palmquist Photo Research Fund Makes grants of $500-$1500 to individuals researching Western American photography before 1900 or women in photography. Pennsylvania State, Center for Humanities and Information Offers up to six fellowships each year for academics holding a Ph. D.

This program allows co-applications from two or more people working on a single project. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowships Applicants must be seeking admission to a U.S. graduate school for study in a field relevant to the work of the Foreign Service and be prepared to enter the Foreign Service following completion of their studies. In exchange, fellows receive funding and mentorship.

Pollock-Krasner Foundation This foundation funds actively working, mid-career professional artists who can demonstrate financial need. The foundation is interested in funding painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper . President’s Postdoctoral Fellowships Encourages outstanding women and minority Ph.

Princeton in Africa , Asia , and Latin America This program, affiliated with Princeton but open to recent college graduates and young alumni of any U.S. college, provides participants with year-long service placements abroad. Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study The Radcliffe Institute at Harvard University offers 50 fellowships annually in the arts, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residencies Located on Lake Como in Italy, the Bellagio Center offers three types of residencies for reflection, collaboration, and work that “promotes the well-being of humanity,” including issues like health, food and agriculture, and economic opportunity. The Arts & Literary Arts Residency is for artists whose work relates to global or social issues.

Rockwell Center for American Visual Studies Located at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Massachusetts, the Rockwell Center is dedicated to studying the vast impacts of American illustration. Four fellowships are offered annually, and they may be carried out in residence or remotely.
