Arts and Science Grants - Creative Flagstaff Fostering Creative Opportunity Through Engagement, Activation, Resources, Education & Celebration Arts and Science Grants 2026-04-23T14:38:09-07:00 Empowering exploration & creation Through our arts and science grant making programs, we provide funding that strengthens Flagstaff’s arts, science, and cultural communities.
From unrestricted General Operating Support for organizations serving the public, to Innovation & Capacity Grants that spark new ideas and build sustainability, and occasional Special Grant Programs responding to community needs, our goal is to foster creativity, equity, and resilience. Creative Flagstaff Arts & Science Grants are made possible by City of Flagstaff Bed, Board & Beverage (BBB) tax revenues.
2 Types of Arts & Science Grants First-time applicants are recommended to contact grant staff to discuss eligibility before applying for Arts & Science Project Grants.
General Operating Support Grants General Operating Support Grants (GOS) provide unrestricted general operating support for nonprofits and other nonprofit sponsored entities whose primary missions are to serve the arts, cultural equity, preservation, or awareness, or present science programming to the public. GOS grant applications are typically open in February and close at the end of March.
Project grants are available to non-profit organizations or individuals with a non-profit fiscal agent for innovation: Introduce a new program or experience, or support an ongoing program or experience, with expanded reach, that engages and enriches the Flagstaff community.

This funding allowed us to expand access to high-quality, hands-on STEAM programming for children, youth, and families across our community—many of whom would otherwise lack these opportunities. Complete a “survey” for the 3 most recently completed fiscal years. Then run the Creative Flagstaff Funder Report.

This session provides valuable insight into sources for grant funding and will guide you through the application process. NOTE: The 2026 Project grant application and guidelines have changed since this presentation. It requires ONE budget and a streamlined narrative.

org . Arizona Community Foundation The Arizona Community Foundation of Flagstaff awards funding through an annual competitive grant cycle. Nonprofit organizations, schools, tribal entities, faith-based organizations, and government agencies must attend a grant workshop each year in April to prepare for the cycle opening in May.

Arizona Commission on the Arts National Endowment for the Arts The National Endowment for the Arts awards grants to nonprofit organizations, creative writers and translators, state arts agencies, and regional arts organizations in support of arts projects across the country. As of June 2021, the NEA invested $9. 2 million in Arizona over a 5-year period.
City of Flagstaff Beautification in Action The City of Flagstaff offers a mini-grant program for streetscape art and beautification, such as landscape projects. Grants of up to $7,500 are available. Applications will be accepted on bi-annual deadlines, March 15 and September 15 at 5:00pm hello@creativeflagstaff.

Jerome Early-Career Project Grants is a grant from Forecast Public Art, funded by the Jerome Foundation, that funds the creation of new public art projects by early-career artists based in Minnesota. Two grants of $8,000 each are awarded annually to support temporary or permanent public artworks anywhere in Minnesota. Projects may be supported by public or nonprofit agencies but private commissions are not eligible, and a secured project site is required at the time of application. The program places special emphasis on supporting BIPOC and Native artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, women artists, immigrant artists, rural artists, and artists with disabilities. Eligible applicants are Minnesota-based individual artists with 2–10 years of generative experience. The application deadline was October 15, 2025.
The Local Cultural Council Program is a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council distributing $1,000 to $10,000 through a statewide network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) representing every city and town in the Commonwealth. Each LCC awards funds based on local community cultural needs as assessed by council members. Eligible applicants include artists, nonprofits, schools, and organizations pursuing arts, humanities, and science projects. Applications are submitted directly to local councils and are typically due by October 16. Grants from most LCCs are reimbursement-based. Massachusetts Cultural Council funds the LCCs centrally, which then regrant to community projects.
