Supporting Spartanburg County Nonprofits General Operating Support Grants Funding for these grants is provided through Chapman Cultural Center's United Arts Annual Fund thanks to generous donations from our supporters. Application deadlines vary according to the size of the organization.
Eligible nonprofit organizations may apply within one of the following categories: Small or Emerging Organizations ($150,000 in operating income or less): Requests for up to 25% of the organization's operating budget will be considered, based on need and community impact.
Art-specific mission, or museum Must be a nonprofit, have 501c3 status, or have a fiscal agent/sponsor with status - i.e. Spartanburg County Foundation, etc. Must have a minimum of three years of operations at the time the application is due.
Annual income under $150K per year Does NOT require paid employee(s) No individuals or sole proprietors Medium Organizations ($150,000-399,000 in operating income): May request up to 20% of income from the organization's previous Fiscal Year. Art-specific mission, or museum At least 5 years since incorporation as a nonprofit, must have 501c3 status.
At least 1 (One) part-time or full-time paid employee(s) Annual income between $150K - $399K per year Large Organizations ($400,000+ in operating income): May request up to 20% of income from the organization's previous Fiscal Year.

What can the money be used for? General Operating Support Grant funds may be used for: GOS Grants are nearly unrestricted and can be used for any operating support costs that help progress and sustain your organization. They may not be used for capital campaigns, purchasing real estate, or for rainy day funds or other savings plans.
All funds must be used in full each year to be eligible for hte next year's funding. What other CCC grants are available? There are not currently any other grants offered by Chapman Cultural Center.
However, there are grant opportunities through the South Carolina Arts Commission and South Arts for artists and nonprofits. In the past, artists and nonprofits were not eligible for grants through the South Carolina Arts Commission because they needed to apply directly through CCC. That is no longer the case.
Artists and nonprofits may now apply through CCC and the South Carolina Arts Commission for any grant opportunity.

Jerome Early-Career Project Grants is a grant from Forecast Public Art, funded by the Jerome Foundation, that funds the creation of new public art projects by early-career artists based in Minnesota. Two grants of $8,000 each are awarded annually to support temporary or permanent public artworks anywhere in Minnesota. Projects may be supported by public or nonprofit agencies but private commissions are not eligible, and a secured project site is required at the time of application. The program places special emphasis on supporting BIPOC and Native artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, women artists, immigrant artists, rural artists, and artists with disabilities. Eligible applicants are Minnesota-based individual artists with 2–10 years of generative experience. The application deadline was October 15, 2025.
The Local Cultural Council Program is a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council distributing $1,000 to $10,000 through a statewide network of 329 Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) representing every city and town in the Commonwealth. Each LCC awards funds based on local community cultural needs as assessed by council members. Eligible applicants include artists, nonprofits, schools, and organizations pursuing arts, humanities, and science projects. Applications are submitted directly to local councils and are typically due by October 16. Grants from most LCCs are reimbursement-based. Massachusetts Cultural Council funds the LCCs centrally, which then regrant to community projects.
