” Silkroad; Boston, MA; 2019 Project Grant Recipient “I am so thrilled to be working with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra to write a new piece for them and other orchestras. Having the time and resources to create a large piece for the orchestra is rare in the modern classical world, especially for younger composers.
In addition to writing the piece, I am looking forward to sitting down with the orchestra to open up a dialogue on what changes can be made to create a more inclusive space in the orchestral classical realm. ” Shelley Washington; Princeton, NJ; Amplifying Voices Composer “I want to take this opportunity to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this grant. This means so much at this time.
And I know what it means to so many other artists. Your generosity has been welcomed two-fold, both as an economic assistance but also as confirmation that art matters and that a better day for all of us will come. ” 2020 Solidarity Fund Recipient Support for New Music USA and its many programs and activities is provided by foundations, corporations, government agencies, and hundreds of individual contributors.
