We're developing innovative models to address needs before child safety becomes an issue. Anti-poverty and family support programs will support our implementation of the Family Preservation approach across Oregon. Three other states were also selected to be part of this initiative.
Grant announcement: Watch the Zoom recording ODHS news release Family Preservation in Oregon Opportunities for Prevention & Transformation Initiative – or "Opt-in for Families" – will provide technical assistance for work in Oregon connecting families considered at-risk of child welfare involvement with community-based services and economic supports as a method of prevention. Oregon, Kentucky, South Carolina and Washington, D. C.
received grants based on their readiness to scale innovative and promising programs, committed leadership and other factors. ODHS’ Child Welfare Program and Self-Sufficiency Programs have demonstrated innovation in creating new systems based on equity, anti-racism, child and family-centric services and family preservation.
